The centre of this episode is a long college football check-in with Booger McFarland. He rates BYU above Utah and Texas Tech in the Big 12, explains away BYU's loss at UCF as a humid road trip, and backs Indiana in a Big Ten with no dominant team, partly because Ohio State's quarterback may be done for the year. He calls Oregon the season's biggest letdown, says a 10-2 Big Ten or SEC team is safe for the playoff, and circles November 7th, with Georgia at Ole Miss and Alabama against LSU, as the day that sorts out the SEC. Miami, in his view, has the most talent in the country but has not yet been tested.
On the NFL, McFarland names Buffalo, Cincinnati, Denver and Jacksonville as AFC contenders and puts an asterisk on Kansas City for its lack of receivers. In the NFC he likes Seattle, San Francisco if healthy, and Chicago, and he is out on the Rams. He blames Houston's slipping defense on players believing their own coverage, and gives the Buccaneers a glimmer of hope in a weak NFC South.
Around the interview, the hosts react to the Rays forcing a fifth World Series game against the Brewers, and Max writes off the Eagles after a Monday night loss to Dallas. Big Cat delivers a long case against Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill, PFT floats a half-serious theory about fading dynasties, and the crew argues over a 24-team playoff before warming to a conference-based bracket Max found online.
A former NFL defensive player and LSU man, now living in Florida, who recalls being traded midseason from Tampa Bay to the Indianapolis Colts. He is a regular friend of the show and appears on its book.
Booger McFarland picks BYU as the best team in the Big 12, ahead of Utah and Texas Tech. He does not hold BYU's loss at UCF against them, calling it a tough 2,000-mile trip from Provo to humid Orlando. He thinks Texas Tech is not the team it was last season, with a weaker defense and doubts about Will Hammond at quarterback.
Booger McFarland says no Big Ten team is dominant, so he leans toward the team with the best coach, which he says is Curt Cignetti's Indiana. He also expects Ohio State to take a step back, because he doubts its injured starting quarterback plays again this season. He ranks UCLA under Bob Chesney close behind for its physical, run-first identity.
Booger McFarland says LSU, at 6-2 after beating Auburn, is in the playoff if it goes 3-1 or 4-0 down the stretch against Alabama, Texas, Tennessee and Arkansas. He calls November 7th, with Georgia at Ole Miss and Alabama against LSU, a day that could be one of the biggest in recent college football memory. He still rates Georgia the best team in the SEC despite a fluky loss to Auburn.
Booger McFarland and the Pardon My Take hosts weigh a 10-2 Notre Dame whose only losses come to BYU and Miami. The view that emerges is that Notre Dame probably gets in, helped by its top-12 provision, but no Irish fan should feel calm on selection day. The case may hinge on SMU: a top-10 SMU gives Notre Dame one more quality win, while an unranked SMU leaves the resume thin.
In the AFC, Booger McFarland ranks Buffalo, Cincinnati, Denver and Jacksonville as contenders, with Kansas City asterisked because it cannot run the ball and has no reliable receivers. In the NFC he likes Seattle and its coach, San Francisco if it is healthy by January, and Chicago, though he asks whether the Bears can hold teams under 24 points. He is out on the Rams.
Booger McFarland says the Houston Texans defense has the same players as before, apart from Reed Blankenship, but stopped doing the small things after being praised as historic and put on a Sports Illustrated cover. He compares the hype to the great Buccaneers and Ravens defenses, which had won rings. He points out that Houston has already lost two games in which its offense scored 30 points.
Big Cat used his hot seat on Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill, calling him cheap and blaming him for one of the NFL's least successful franchises, with seven playoff wins since 1925. He cites the end of the popular Flagstaff training camp, pricey end-zone casitas that sit empty, failing grades on NFLPA report cards, and stories from former safety Robert Griffith. He told Bidwill to sell the team.
Max, who was at the Monday night game, says the Eagles defense gave up before kickoff and showed no leadership or effort against the Cowboys. Dallas ran 30 times for 200 yards and Dak Prescott was never hit. Max singles out Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Zack Baun, and credits only Quinyon Mitchell and an injured Saquon Barkley for fighting.

Great to catch up with Boog. We have Max back from Monday Night Football. He was there to end the Eagles season. So we bury the Eagles once and for all. We can just move on to the next year. We are going to do Hot Seat, Cool Throne. We have some takes, listener takes on the football season from our listeners. We also are going to talk some world series.
1:31The Brewers survive extra innings to force a game five in a series that I think we all think is pretty much over, but they survive. So we're going to have another game of world series game on Wednesday night. And it's all brought to you by our friends at Chevy football season is here. Chevy Silverado. on chill week it is absolutely the best drive out there chevy silverado check out the current offers on the 2026 silverado at chevy.com okay let's go Part of my take. Yeah. Part of my take. Yeah. Part of my take. Yeah. Part of my take. Yeah. Part of my take. The crown is yours today is Wednesday, October 28th. And the Tampa Bay Rays have survived an execution, a stay of execution. PFT. We have one more World Series game.
3:16We stayed up to coronate the Milwaukee Brewers. I had all the stats. I was going to talk about Aaron Ashby being 15 innings now. He's pitched in the postseason, and he hasn't given up a run. He was pissed to come out of that game. William Contreras, all these guys, the rookie, Cooper, hitting that home run, which was just insane. Yeah, Cooper at. You thought the series was over right there, but the Rays did it. They found a way. It started with an error in what inning were we even in? Was it the 13th? What inning was that? 12th. It started with an error in the 12th, and they actually did a half inning of Brewers baseball where they started hitting the ball and moving runners over. So the Rays survived one more day, even though I think the Brewers have this thing sealed up
4:06after an insane Monday night where they were just awesome and they had one of the best innings in World Series history. Did they string together seven straight hits or something? Yeah, it was the fifth inning of Game 3. I think it was maybe the second best fifth inning of all time in World Series history behind only the Yankees' fifth inning where they committed all those errors a couple of couple of years ago. Yeah, but that was pretty good. Yeah, but that Monday night it felt like, OK, it's over. They had they had Bobby Diesel, Robert Gasser on the mound for the Brewers. He's also not I think he's given up one earned run in his postseason. He's pitched three times and they – that fifth inning was insane.
4:46The stat was flying around, 175 pitches that the Brewers saw, and they had 13 swings and misses. That's how good they were. Yeah, but then tonight happened, and we have one more World Series game. Do we – do the Rays have a chance? Well, yeah, the R rays have a chance well yeah the rays have a chance the rays have a chance uh in the same sense as like they have to go out there and actually play a game of baseball they'll have a chance for like two hours um no i mean the brewers they've got everything set up i don't know that the rays are gonna pitch um they just kind of went fuck it mode we have to win this game which i i get you don't want to get swept in the world series so they just they said that's a future us We have to win this game, which I get. You don't want to get swept in the World Series.
5:25So they said that's a future us problem. We'll figure who's going to pitch for us. Tomorrow morning, whoever's arm feels good, just let me know, and we'll roll the ball out there and see what we got. But they just said, yeah, we're not going to lose this one. And it was a good game. The thing about this World Series, I'm glad that it's not over. It sucked. I didn't want it to go this late tonight just because it would have been nice to have a nice clean nine inning win for the Rays. But I want the series to keep going because it's been very, very fun baseball to watch. It's everything that I personally like about baseball. Yeah, it's it's a lot of small ball, but it's also like, I don't know.
6:01We need to figure out a different term for what the Rays do and the Brewers do because it's not like traditional small ball, but it's more exciting, better base running, a lot of strategy. And there's always something going on. It's a very, very exciting brand of baseball, and I'm going to miss it when it's over. So I did not want to sweep, so thank you. I am a temporary racist, and just keep it going. Give me like two more games. We're all a little racist sometimes, right? Yeah. It's not small ball. It's situational hitting. It's guys coming up in big moments. I mean, it feels like the entire Brewers lineup has had a big moment throughout this World Series, throughout this postseason. Sal Freelick, we talked about him on Saturday night.
6:48He had the big moment. Cooper Pratt tonight. So, yeah, it just got in. You know what it was? We had Eric Hosmer on Wake Up Barstool this morning. Hos is the absolute best. And, Max, you probably can speak to it, but he said that what the Brewers do better than anyone, any other team is they have a true nine V one approach at the plate where every single guy is got the exact same, like set, like, they're like, Hey, Freddie Peralta, he's going to try to pitch. He's going to try to throw heaters high. We're all going to lay off of them. And like, everyone's going to do the same thing and not let him off the hook and give him any free outs where it's like not one guy's not coming up and being like, you know what?
7:33I'm going to swing at the first pitch. I'm going to fucking be free. So they all are locked in and doing the exact same thing. And it makes it hell on pitchers to have to deal with because it's like you can't just navigate a lineup being like, oh, this guy, I can. He's going to he's going to chase something. He's going to swing at the first pitch. They all are locked in and doing the same thing. It's Vogelbeck. He's an unbelievable hitting coach. Do you see it, Max? Yeah. You watch it all the time in baseball. It's uncompetitive at bats from or noncompetitive at bats from 85 percent of teams out there and guys who just have a similar approach and are going up there with with like a plan in place makes so much of a difference in these games when it gets tight like this because
8:17as you can see the defense gets a little tight when when the when it's a world series when you're when you're trying to compete to win the big one, it's not as easy as it is in the regular season. So just getting the ball in play and making good defenders make plays is different in the World Series. That's how it started. I don't know if I've talked about this, but along the same lines of not swinging at the first pitch, I've noticed that when they do swing at the first pitch, they almost always get a hit. It's almost like everybody's waiting on the same pitch, and they've got that 9v1 where it's like, we know what we're going to do. Because I've noticed that occasionally they will. I think they have probably the lowest rate of swinging at first pitches.
9:01But when they do jump on one, it's like they know exactly what they're looking for. No, I'm just joking. I actually can't stand that we live in a world now because this happened. Houston Astros fucked it for everyone. This happened last year with Cignetti when Indiana won a national championship. This is happening right now with the Brewers when they're just being beasts at the plate. Teams can't just be good anymore. They've got to if they're too good they're cheating it's bullshit they're not cheating they're just really fucking good and it's okay to just be like hey a team is really good it doesn't not every single answer has to be someone's cheating fuck the astros they did that or you know that's not what I was saying though, right? No, I was joking.
9:46I think that whatever their scouting department is, whatever their coaching tells them, I think they all know what they're looking for. And it's like if you see this pitch, then fucking swing at it because we're prepared for that. But they rarely do swing at that first pitch. It's also a scouting report. They're both very well coached teams and they could just have an approach up there. It's like, this guy likes to start with this pitch. We're sitting on this pitch only. And if we see it out of the hand, we're attacking. So like that goes into these two teams are just very well coached. And that has a lot to do with it. Yeah. But shout out to Rays. They found a way. Like, I did not think I actually I thought they were dead in the fourth
10:31fourth inning. The fourth inning, they went up to one. And remember, I was talking about it on Sundays. Like one of the the the things that the Brewers do that is just like a such a championship style thing that they do is they always answer. If the team scores, they will always answer. They will always put up a run the next inning. So the fourth inning, I think it was the bottom of the fourth, the Rays scored, and then the Brewers scored in the next inning. And I was like, you could kind of see the panic on the Rays' face, like, oh, shit, here we go. We had a lead for like two seconds, and now we're back to tied. And so credits are raised because I thought they were dead there, and they kept on fighting, and they're a really good baseball team.
11:12I don't think they're as good as the Brewers. I think this series is probably going to be over Wednesday night, especially with the pitching setup and the fact that the Brewers have Miz and the Rays were going to start Martinez, but he pitched two innings tonight. But, hey, guess what? They still got a shot. We got more World Series. Yeah, and I need there to be more baseball. I don't want to think about what's going to – How about this? Can we make a rule? Let's wait a full episode after whoever wins the World Series, one full episode where we don't talk about the impending lockout that's coming for baseball. What if I do this? I got my mini Cubs bat right here. What if we do this, PFT? What if we say there's just not going to be a lockout?
11:56Or else. Because that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to be the guy who is just oblivious, head in the sand and say, they'll figure it out. They'll figure it. There's too much at stake. They'll figure it out. It's not 1994 anymore. They'll figure it out. So that's what I'm going to do. I'm pretty confident in that. Maybe not the whole season, but they're going to play baseball next year. You know what? Big cat guarantee. You're on team. Nothing ever happens. Yeah, it'll happen. Yeah, it's good. They'll sit down at some point and be like, you know what, guys? We're not. We're making a lot of money here. Let's keep making a lot of money here. They're going to accidentally figure out that they're going to start
12:42right after basketball season's over, and that's the perfect time to start baseball season. Yeah, they're also, I'll say this to the big baseball, all the owners, everyone, Jeff Passan, if there's no, if there's zero days missed, I'm swinging my little cubs bat, if there's zero days missed, I'm going to be pissed that there's a little boy that cried wolf. You can never say it again. I'm not saying I'm going to be happy that there's zero days missed i'm gonna be pissed that there's a little boy that cried wolf you can never say it again i'm not saying i'm gonna be happy that there's baseball i'm saying you guys can't do this anymore we can't sound the alarms anymore i don't like that you're even
13:14saying that if there if there's no days missed that would be great it would be great max but there's got to be some heads to roll in terms of people saying like for the last five years being like oh it's coming it's coming it's coming i like this people saying like for the last five years being like oh it's coming it's coming it's coming i like this theory that like how the weather channel they started naming all the storms like winter storms because they figure out that that gets better ratings like we're looking at jeff passon and the uh the nightingales of the world and they've been talking about this upcoming stoppage just so that they can get more clicks on their little social media profiles because they're they're all doom and gloom about everything.
13:48I would like to blame it all on them. That's a good way to look at it. I would like to offer Scott Boris and Rob Manfred, a pizza party if there's no games missed. How about that? You do it. You do the stick. I'll do the carrot. Love that. Love that. Yeah. I'm going to whip you with my little cubs back by the way, shout out our guy jeff passin uh dunking on that weirdo who took a picture from him of him like from 100 feet away and tweeted it we got we got to start shaming these people that are doing the pairs like it's a very weird parasocial behavior to take a picture of someone enjoying their life and then tweeting it to a bunch of burners being like look at this loser ordering tacos no you're the loser for taking the picture of jeff passon jeff pass has
14:31been going at everybody he went out he gets spicy man he gets sleeper accounts too he's like your old business models fuck buddy i didn't want i don't know i don't understand that at all i'm not going to get involved i'm just more pointing to to the like Jeff Passon was ordering a taco and then some guy takes a picture of him, calls him short, tweets. It's like that's a weird move. Just I have no idea if he's right about that. I just like when Jeff Passon gets spicy about anything. I'm going to bring this bat into the office because I like just holding it and just kind of pointing it around and swinging it a little little bat. All right. More World Series. One last thing. We talked about it. So the Quentin kind of pointing it around and swinging it a little little bat uh all right more world series
15:05one last thing uh we talked about it so the quinn nelson trade broke i think while we were recording earlier yep then deforest buckner got traded back to the 49ers is our is our boy ed dodd cooking i think he might be i think he's on one. That's what I think. I think Ed Dodd was told no uncertain terms. You will be judged entirely off of what picks you bring in, how many picks you bring in over the course of the next three weeks. That's your job, Ed Dodd. He's probably on some sort of SPF sales plan where he's compensated directly based on how many picks come in. And congrats to DeForest Buckner because I'm excited to see him play some meaningful football. I remember we went out to the 49ers training camp and we
15:59saw him. He was probably like a second year player, maybe third year player. He was the biggest dude I'd ever seen on a football field at that point. And I'm just excited to see him play potentially in some meaningful games for the 49ers this postseason. So happy for him. Happy for Quentin Nelson too, to get that opportunity. Good move by the Seahawks. This is just, this is classic at Dodds, man. We knew when at Dodds calls, don't pick up. No, run away. Throw your phone in the ocean because Ed Dodd is coming for all your third, fourth, and maybe fifth rounders. He's going to take them all. Did you see Jonathan Taylor posted an Instagram picture of Skyline Chili? I did not see that. Maybe I got duped.
16:44Let me see. Let me see. Let me double check. That would be wild. That would be a wild one, huh? I'm very nervous that the Vikings might get Jonathan Taylor. That feels like that would be a problem. If the Bengals get Jonathan Taylor, I don't know how I would handle that. Like the Vikings. You got duped. You did? Okay. I was going to say, the Bengals with a run game, that would be some crazy shit. And also, their owner doesn't really do many trades, does he? No, I don't think so. Also, that would have been crazy for Jonathan Taylor to just post Skyline Chili. That would have been weird. Did you see Nate Hobbs? Nate Hobbs of the Niners got dressed up as Dajon Love for their Niners Halloween party.
17:27Oh, that's sick. Yeah. It's pretty awesome. That's really sick. All right. Is there anything else? I think that's it. Hank, you excited for more baseball? Hell yeah. Yeah? Yeah. I don't think we talked about it. Is the grudge match video out? Part one. Part one? Just give a teaser. How did hole one go? Don't say anything else, out? Part one. Part one? Just give a teaser. How did hole one go? Don't say anything else, but just hole one. Part one is holes one and two, and I'm down five. Oh, no. Five strokes? Hank had a tough couple putts on the green, yeah. Wait, five bucks or five strokes? Is this a new camera setup you got going on right now, too? This is like eerie Halloween spooky. I just turned off my TV once the game ended.
18:11That's the difference. Yeah, for a second there, you look like you're in a rap album. I thought it looked like you were at a bonfire telling a spooky story. No, it's late. I got all my lights off. Yeah. at like a a bonfire telling a spooky story no it's late i got all my lights off yeah oh in the uh in the grudge match video hank surprised me by having stew finer show up and i think hank's technique was to put stew finer in my cart to annoy me not not understand that i love stew and immediately vibe yeah no i mean that was just bringing us to it was is just for vibes oh yeah last thing about the World Series I forgot to mention we're not going to pick on Rays fans because they're a little sensitive right now they're down 3-1
18:53actually you know what I'm going to say it credits to the Trop the Trop has been very loud the Trop has been very loud it's packed it's full not an not a seat not an empty seat in the house and it has been rocking now for what team let's just say it's been rocking let's just say the trop has been rocking put it on a quote card credit to tampa bay slash st pete the trop has been rocking. The towels swinging everywhere, the fans into every play, the booing on pickoff attempts. It's just been great. It's been great to see. Those towels are so funny. I'll say this. When the walk-off happened, you could tell how excited everyone was by how quiet it got. It was shock. It was just straight shock. Everyone was like, oh, my God.
19:50I can't believe that. And I think they were doing a free giveaway in the top of the 12th when Cooper Pratt hit his home run because the crowd went nuts for that. It must have been like free chicken nuggets or something. Fish tacos, yeah. It's fish tacos. Trop has been rocking. All right. Let's kick it back to ourselves in studio. 22:30Varies by state. Monday Night Football. The fall for the Eagles season is dead. Max, you were there. You fought. There was actually, I think that that assess this statement max if i told you before this game that tanner mckee and the offense would score 21 points you probably thought you you'd won that game right or at least close to winning that game yeah i yeah yeah i mean the defense you said you fought the defense showed zero fun yeah they showed absolutely nothing they are a bunch of children on the defensive side of the football children with zero leader and zero determination to actually show any sort of heart in any way they gave up on the season before that game started last night and they had zero interest of playing football wow jay Jalen Carter's getting paid $160 million to do nothing,
23:25to do absolutely nothing. Baldy broke down a video he wasn't even getting in his fucking stance. Yeah, I got a question about the leadership, Max, the leadership factor in there. What about Vic Fangio? Yeah, I mean, Vic Fangio has enough body of work to give him benefit of the doubt. There's no leader on that defense. There's no leader on that defense. There's no leader on the field. Brandon Graham's not there anymore. I don't know. Maybe just because Jalen Hurts isn't in the locker room anymore. There's no leader on that team. Saquon Barkley went out, went up to the podium after the game and talked for the first time in a while and addressed the team of saying that no one's a leader in here.
24:02So I guess I got to be. I want to give credit to Saquon. He was very clearly hurt. And even on the first play, he came up a little. He was fighting his balls all night. He wanted to be in that game. There was a moment where you guys were in your fifth string running back, sixth string running back. Saquon tried to get back in the game. They're like, dude, you can't go back in the game. He would go back in for the first play of every drive break off like an eight yard run yeah have a good cut and then immediately go to the sideline yeah like try and like stretch out i he would have had like 350 yard runs last night if he was healthy i was just watching him on the sideline being just watching him try to get in the game the entire time. It was so disappointing. But that was the big story of the night is that the Eagles defense,
24:48because the Eagles offense is banged up. You're out. What? You're one and two. You're number one. You're number two receiver. We're out. QB1, RB1, RB2, RB3, RB4, wide receiver one, wide receiver two. It sounds like he's doing his drive-thru. I'll take one roast beef. You know what? Two, three. That's not what we're doing. Okay, keep going. RB1, RB2. I already did it. You weren't paying attention. We're not doing it again. You were thinking about RBs. I was thinking about RBs. Yeah, the offense is bad, but we expect it to be bad. The defense still has all these dudes and it's like outside of quinion mitchell he's the only one he's the only one who showed up last night yeah zach bond is so disappointing he's supposed to be the leader of that defense he had what two
25:37tackles last night he's getting fucking bodied at the line of scrimmage all night. Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter were nowhere to be found all night. The Cowboys rushed the ball 30 times for 200 yards. Yeah, they're not even a good running team. Right down your fucking face, and they can't run the ball. Cooper Dijon is nowhere. He fucking sucks now. Everyone is hyping him up to be like this next big thing. He's trying to get an extension this year, and he looks like he doesn't fucking care. He sucks. Jalen Carter, he sucks. Jordan Davis, he sucks. The edge rushers are terrible. Jonathan Grenard is nowhere. I get you're playing her, dude, but just show something, or don't fucking get out there.
26:18Don't do it. What about your head coach? What's Nick Sirianni doing? This is when he's supposed to step up, right? Like, leader of men, Nick. Yeah. Yeah. I men Nick yeah yeah I I don't know I don't know I don't know the team is the season's over the fact that we have to watch Commander's Eagles on Sunday night is such a joke it's actually it's disgusting it's actually like I want a class action lawsuit because it's it's crazy that they done this to us and they had a chance to change it and they were just like, no, we're going to just hit the NFC East button again. It's nuts. Yep. I think that what's going to happen now is we're going to get a lot of talk about the Dallas Cowboys. We're going to get people to talk because they won a primetime game
27:04and people are going to look at the division and they're gonna say is this where dallas starts to turn it on and makes a little bit of run i can't wait for that discussion to happen they gave up a lot of yards yeah to an offense yeah they're a bad team nobody the cowboys are a bad team don't be like cd lamb awesome great player d. Dak Prescott CD. That connection is, is very fun. They're a good offense. They should be a good offense. They're a bad football team. And I can't wait for people to start to say like, this is when look at the schedule. Dallas is going to put some wins together. Well, they could be a bet that I, I agree with you. It's going to be very funny to watch them. Anyone who says that there are like a,
27:42an actual threat to go to the NFC Championship game or Super Bowl is insane. Insane. They are definitely a threat to go to the playoffs because they're a bad football team that plays in a bad division. They could go to the playoffs. I was thinking about the Giants. They're not a threat to win a playoff. No, but they are definitely a threat to go to the playoffs. Yeah, they can threaten the Giants. Yes, that will be a battle that I think the Giants will end up winning because they've got a big head start. But, yeah, anyone that looks at a primetime win against that Eagles team and makes anything mean anything about the Cowboys is insane. Do you think Dak even washed his jersey last night? He was not touched.
28:24Like, if they played two games. Nobody was touched behind the line of scrimmage. Zero QB hits, zero tackle for losses, zero sacks. If they played two-hand touch, it would have been the same thing. Yeah. It was crazy. Yeah, it was nuts. That game, Max, do you think America could possibly boycott our game? I'm still going to watch. Yeah, I know. We're going to be doing a podcast during this show show i don't think that anyone else should watch i don't think that anybody outside of this room should watch that game we need to ban it that game it's insane it's bad for america i don't know why they did this they had they had the chance to make it brown steelers i think they couldn't do brown sealers no they could i thought they. They said because of the comeback in the second half from the commanders,
29:08they decided to keep it. I'm pretty sure I read that. They were talking about doing it, and they made the decision after that game to keep it with the commanders. Sorry. I bet just another testament to that comeback and how great it was. But, yeah, I apologize. Nobody should watch that game. It should be – they should put it on pay-per-view or it should air on OnlyFans. It should not be, it should not be meant for a mass audience. It's going to be disgusting. And then we're going to have like Tirico and Collinsworth try to gas us up as best they can, try to make it way more meaningful sounding. And it's just going to be, it's going to be a bummer of a watch. It's going to make me sad to watch that football And it's just going to be a bummer of a watch. Yeah.
29:46It's going to make me sad to watch that football game. So, Max, we're done. You're done with the Eagles this year. Yeah. They got nothing. We got to have Bazooka Joe. We got to have Bazooka Joe in the game. Bazooka Joe. Have some fun with it. Or at the very least, Cole Payton. Yeah. I would take Cole Payton, too. Tanner McKee didn't play bad. He's so bland. Yeah, it's not I would take Cole Payton Tanner McKee didn't play bad he's but he's not the he's not an answer he's not yeah he's not fun oh he missed one yeah that that throw at the end of the at the end of the first half to Darius Cooper just wide open in the middle of the field that would have sparked or sparked a run what uh sucks what uh Max did you see Big Dom?
30:26I did not see Big Dom, actually. Oh, I did. Where was he? No, he's on TV. Oh. Yeah. Did you see anyone? Yeah, I saw Jason Kelsey. Nice. You say hi to him? I said hi to him. He asked about my thoughts of how the game was going to go. I was wrong about how I thought that game was going to go. What was your analysis? I was like, tonight's the night we turn it around. Last night was not the night we turned it around. I was wrong. I was wrong about that analysis. No. Okay. I also saw Pat McAfee. McAlay? The McAlay. He's all excited that we were excited about the McAulay McAfee went to Philadelphia? after they blew up the chicken man? what's the chicken man? that's gotta be a nerve wracking place to visit
31:14no Philly's a good spot after that one guy was chilling out Max and all cool and then a couple guys that were up to no good started a fight what about the robot that walked across the country oh yeah spot fuck hitch spot yeah see that's oh this is a that could have been a disaster last night did you call him corny no okay good yeah all right so then we're good we're on the right side everyone keeps i don't even know about this story everyone anything that happened yesterday did not happen. You're in birds mode, yeah. Anything that happens, it did not happen. Max, he locks out the news when the birds are on. He's got a little doo-doo going on right now with the state of Utah. It's a little dust-up. Whatever.
31:56That's so something that is not going to cross my path. What? That is something that you're literally the number one McAlee rider. But Utah, you havelee rider. Yeah, also. Utah. You have the internet. Yeah, you have the internet. I was not on the internet yesterday. Just as a human being, injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. You should be concerned about that. Like when you're traveling, getting on a plane, you don't open the internet? I was listening to podcasts. You were trending all afternoon. You can listen to podcasts and open the internet maybe you can i guess yeah yeah i'm i'm skilled like that yeah i didn't realize that i can scroll the internet and listen to podcasts i want get you a man that can do both
32:40by the way you know the happiest guy at uh espn right now is is dan orlovsky because mack mcafee had a a big day with the state of utah orlovsky just got completely overshadowed with one of the most shockingly dumb things i've ever seen in adult he's he's was he joking no okay when i first heard him break this down because he was talking about how he didn't know what percent meant yeah we can we say what he said because i this down, because he was talking about how he didn't know what percent meant. Can we say what he said? Because I have no idea what you're talking about. There might be listeners out there who don't. He said he didn't know what percent meant. What percent? Here's how it started.
33:14He did not understand what the term percent meant, because somebody, one of his stats guys, told him that Joe Burrows pressured on 4% of his dropbacks. He did not understand that that meant four times out of 100. He's asked to dumb it down. He's like does that mean he has an mvp vote also and i love orlovsky because he is a weird brain he's just a weird brain guy but just to be like can you dumb down what four percent means like how what does that actually like break down to number wise like i am saying like i did not know when i first heard about this that i did not know when I first heard him talk about this that I did not understand that it meant percent. I didn't know the origin of the word percent, meaning per hundred.
33:54Cent being a shorthand version of saying hundred. Obviously, I know that percent means out of a hundred. Correct. Obviously. means out of 100 correct obviously i just i just didn't know how that the word percent was actually a combination of per and then 100 and then you get the word per by the 100 it's the latin yeah obviously i knew that it's out of 100 he didn't know i started to think that's what dan meant too and then he kept talking about it was like no this dude didn't understand that it means out of 100. Oh, he's brutal. Max, you missed a lot yesterday. And by a lot, I mean literally just like 30 minutes of the McAfee show. Yeah. Seems like it really happened on that 30 minutes. I'm going to have to go back on that.
34:40Can I do a little tinfoil hat? Yeah. I have just a tinfoil hat. It's not a take I'm ready to fully buy into. It's a thought that occurred to me. And if you're the thought police, you have to stop listening. Freedom of speech. There's a lot of teams in sports over the last, I'd say, five years. There have been several very dominant teams that have had a great track record that have taken a notable step back in the last 12 months why is that wait say it again there's notable teams yeah a lot of teams i'll give you some examples in hockey florida panthers okay completely dominant big step back well they got injured right edmonton Oilers also a big step back Not really dominant But I mean making it to the finals
35:27But Panthers That stands Eagles defense In particular looks completely different The Ravens Have been a very very good team It just looks like they're all kinds of fucked up right now You could make that same case Maybe about the Chiefs the last couple. I'm going to leave the Chiefs out of that one. The Dodgers in baseball would be another one. Like 12 months ago, there started to be severe supply chain issues when it came to performance enhancing drugs and peptide shipments coming to the United States. I just think it's interesting. Would the Knicks being 0-3 count for this? I would think that, no. For the purposes of pissing memes off, yes. They're drunk. For the purposes of pissing memes off, yes.
36:21But for the sake of my argument, I would actually say the Knicks winning the championship might be an example of them beating a lot of teams that maybe had benefited from that sort of thing in the past. And the Knicks are clean, in my estimation. So wait, so athletes can't get steroids and peptides? I'm not saying that. I'm saying it's gotten a lot harder to get the same stuff that they used to get very, very easily. Got it. much feel like if anyone could still get the stuff it's athletes and teams and what does this have to do with maybe for normal people i'm not saying i'm not saying across the board hank i'm saying that like there have been severe issues disrupting the supply chains that makes it harder for anyone to get are you trying to get peptides are we still on the
37:03mcafee orOrlovsky thing? No, no. Oh, okay. We've moved on from that. I'm just saying, think about it. It's interesting that a lot of these teams that were kind of dominant and looked at as being at the top of their game all of a sudden kind of fell off the charts a little bit. Just something I've been... Again, I said tinfoil hat. Not ready to... You did say tinfoil hat. Pablo, Pablo, you're listening to this. Just whenever anybody has a thought about something ask pablo tory and let him do the rest of the work just think about it you're not thinking about it no why not i don't i really didn't follow to the teams like the dodgers fun this is so dumb the dodgers were in the nlcs why it's pardon
37:43you're just saying that like every team who's good has to stay good forever? No, I'm just saying that every team that's good is good because of peptides. No, that's not what he said. There's not... If they were taking peptides, there's not a chance in hell that they couldn't still take those same peptides. I can fucking get peptides easily. You don't think professional athletes can get peptides? I'm not necessarily just talking about peptides, Max. I'm talking about... You said peptides easily you don't think professional athletes can get peptides i'm not necessarily just talking about peptides max i'm talking about you said peptides as an example of the entire performance drug supply chain i and hank's right that if anybody could get it hank's right
38:15thinking that this is so dumb i i unlike hank and max am a supportive friend and even when my friend has dumb thoughts i I say, hey. We let him talk about it for so long. No, I was fine. Max, shut the fuck up. Don't tell me you want to stop talking, you big bitch. This is fucking stupid of you to start yelling about this shit. What did you bring to the podcast today? Oh, the Eagles suck. Oh, I didn't see the internet. You asked me a question, I answered a question. Now it's bad and that makes me sad. Wait, wait, PFT, let me do a Max impression. Oh, you guys are talking about the thing that went viral all day? I didn't know. I opened up my phone. I didn't know about it. You asked me to talk about it.
38:56I gave an answer. PFT, you're right. Let's talk about the Wizards. No, PFT, you're right. Yeah, the Wizards lost to the Hornets, so we're not going to talk about the Wizards today. Oh, fuck. PFT, I'm with you. Anthony Davis looks like he's okay. He was looking at his hand at the end of the game, but he's okay. Peptides and steroids, I'm with you, PFT. You guys forced me into agreeing with PFT on this. I'm not even saying I agree with me on this. I'm saying it's interesting to think about. I'm just putting the seed out there. It is interesting. It's a thought that I had early this morning, and I thought about some of the dominant teams, and they look like shells to themselves. The Dodgers being one example,
39:31looking like shells to themselves in this postseason. I'm also naive, like hand up. And I don't know how you're up to date on the supply, demand, trades, and access to the steroids. Because you've never read the news. That's a thing? Yeah. That's a reported on thing? I don't know. To be fair, you've never read the news. That's a thing? Yeah. That's a reported on thing. I don't know. To be fair, I don't read the news either. Well, no, you don't even read the tabloids. I had one day. You can't consume two things at once. You had one day? You were traveling for an entire day and you're like, I'm just going to turn off my phone. I swear to God, I did look into more of it and if you think we were talking about mcafee last night and i was like i have no idea what's going
40:11on if you think i'm talking about standard peptides like like you are i get that's not at all yeah it's not what he's talking about wouldn't that mean like again i'm on your side i can get peptides right now again i'm on your side but wouldn't the elevated like the really rich ones those like rich people can get anything at any time yeah probably yeah no they'd still definitely be able to get a lot of the same stuff but if there's a fucked up supply chain it does make it a little bit harder for everybody that's what i'm saying yep all right so back to mcafee real quick uh no i actually did have one last point on it i i think mcafee's's probably feeling like he has been overworked. I think this is the downside of working as many hours as he does.
40:50You get agitated about shit that maybe was a little bit of an overreaction. He probably woke up today after sleeping in his own bed and was like, oh, I maybe overreacted that a little bit. He's working too much. Honestly. I would probably agree. He's probably burning the candle at every possible end the dude's fucking just the video that he was doing everything the video that he was upset about was kind of funny it was just people being like yeah i don't like pat mcafee he's like fuck this state i think it's an overreaction but i don't think pat's like a bad guy so it's like he had an overreaction i think it's like you are you are literally just working non-stop as someone who works a lot like when we were during football season we're
41:25always go go go there are definitely times where i have like a reaction to something or a response to something i'm like damn that was not like that's just me being like a bitch overtired you know what i mean the funniest possible mad about someone talking about peptides yeah the funniest possible thing is if somebody was like we're going back to utah for the holy war yeah i think they are i don't think so i think it's a oh maybe it's on espn but i don't think so i think it's that's the november 7th weekend with notre dame miami because mcafee pretty much said if it's up to me i'm never going back to that state i think the one uh thing that mcafee he anyone can feel however they want to feel maybe invoking a guy getting assassinated was probably off a video of the word corny.
42:08Yeah, I mean, yeah, that's a fair thing to say. That's a very fair thing to say. Maybe a little too far. We didn't really talk, and we're going to do hot sequel to it in a second. We didn't really talk about Sunday Night Football. Hank, now that the time has passed, do we think that was just a seahawks are really good and make teams look bad performance or is it maybe the chiefs aren't as good as we thought i mean the seahawks have proven it yeah they know they since this like the whole they don't last year and this entire year is like their defense makes unbelievable quarterbacks look mediocre. They dunk on teams. They make teams look bad. I'm just asking a question about the Chiefs because the Chiefs,
42:51I think it's more if you could take away the Chiefs' running attack, like who do they throw it to? And we'll find out when they play the Broncos. But it was just a shockingly bad Mahomes and Chiefs performance. We all keep expecting the Chiefs to add somebody at wide receiver. Yeah. Because they don't have any options whatsoever. So I don't know what the names that might be on the trade block would be before the deadline. Yeah. But if the offense exists like this for the rest of the season, then no, I don't think they're going to win. Yeah. I don't think that they can. It's not a knock against Mahomes or anything about where his career is at right now. It's just he literally doesn't have any weapons.
43:30And the offensive line is a big question. I don't know if Simmons is ever going to play. He shouldn't have put his feet up. Yeah, didn't put his feet up. And then he got into an argument with Andy Reid. Yeah, about having his feet up. Yeah, and then Andy Reid and Mahomes apparently yelled at Simmons. You can't yell at Andy Reid in that facility. Yeah, he's untouchable. I am definitely, I agree, Hank. Seahawks make everyone look really bad. My question was more, we're now at the point where we have enough of a data set where it's like you can look at teams and be like, all right, what's their best win? And when you look at the Chiefss week one was maybe the aberration you know every every time there's a week one weird game where the broncos literally missed the most tackles of any
44:11team this year in one game their other four wins are colts dolphins raiders chargers those are really bad teams so i that's why i'm excited for sunday because like if they beat the broncos then i'll be like you know what i was wrong but if the Broncos beat him are we gonna start saying hey wait a second are the Chiefs actually like all the way back or have they did they have a nice little start to the season you know with a soft schedule to get Mahomes going yeah uh I don't know that we'd be able I'm still gonna have the same thoughts about him even if they beat the Broncos which is they don't have a wide receiver. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I'll at least be. Rasheed Rice will come back. Yeah, I'll at least say, all right, that's beating a quality playoff caliber
44:53team twice now. That would definitely go a long way of me saying, like, hey, they're going to be a force in the AFC playoffs. So Rasheed Rice's hamstring, when is that when is he getting back? It's week by week. I think he was possible this week, but obviously got ruled out. Yeah. So maybe this week, who knows? But it's not. He'll be back soon. Ish. They will look different when he's back. I would just like to see more. Because he hasn't proven that he can stay on the field. I would like to see something else from the Chiefs. I don't think that... I trust in the defense. I think the defense is going to hold up their end of the field. I would like to see something else from the Chiefs. I don't think that – I trust in the defense.
45:26I think the defense is going to hold up their end of the bargain. I just think that as it stands right now, I would not trust them to go far in the playoffs. Yeah. What – in terms of – we're going to talk college football with Booger. Did you guys give any more thoughts to my take at the end of Sunday's show, the 24 playoff? And I know, Hank, you were in a salty mood, so I throw it out. It was a tough Sunday night for you. My... What? It was. Yeah. My take that the 2014 playoff, it's starting to grow on me, and I want to resist it. I want to throw it out. And it has nothing to do with the Badgers. It has to do with the fact that there are right now, it's like, there's like eight teams in the SEC that I think are all really good
46:09that have two losses that if they catch a third loss are probably not going to be in the playoff. And it's like, I want to see Trinidad Shambles play in the playoff. I want to see Keelan Russell play in the playoff. Here's the problem. I'm starting to, it's, my problem is I'm thinking about it in just this year where we actually have parody, not years past where like two years ago we had a 12 team playoff with only like three good teams. Here's the problem is in theory, you're not, you're not wrong about this example, but in practice, what we're going to run into is in a 24 playoff, it's not going to be the best 24 teams in the country, right? It's going to be the 24 teams in the country that espn has decided
46:45that they want to put on the air and for people to watch that but that's that's what it ultimately but that when is college football ever done anything that isn't about money okay so i don't really buy that because with 24 teams you can't it'd be very hard like the last three teams might be the teams they want on air but you know who the top 20 teams are. That's not really like a up for debate. Oh, ESPN put them on because they want them on type of thing. I think that there would be a lot of motivation for ESPN to put the teams on that maybe wouldn't be looked at as being the best teams because of the financial. But again, we're talking about like the end of the rankings. You can't just. make up a ranking to to say oh this team that has five loss alabama has five losses let's put them
47:30at 24 like you can't do that no but i think that there's going to be a lot there's gonna be a log jam in the 20 to 30 range yeah but i don't care about that like that's what i'm saying i don't care about i don't care about 20 20 21 22 23 24 i don't care about those teams you care about i'm talking about the yeah when we have 12 when when like old miss is right now 12th in the country. LSU is 15th in the country. Tennessee, I love watching Tennessee's defensive line. They're 16th in the country. I want to see those teams have a crack at it. And they do have a crack at it, but the problem is you have to keep the end of the regular season for the conference. It has to mean something. There has to be a lot on the line to really get the full chaos and the full amount of energy in the last five
48:13six weeks of the regular season no but yes again this might be just be this year but this year it would work this year it actually like looking at the schedules it would work these games would mean a lot coming down the stretch. They mean a lot right now. But you'd have like... The conference championship games too? That should mean something? Oh, that's gone. That shouldn't mean anything. I'm done with that. I've been done with that. They stopped meaning anything the minute we went to 12. That was over. So I'm fully done with... That actually might be the one thing that I can universally say because I'm still kind of wishy-washy with whether I like the 24 teams universally I love that we're done with conference championship
48:56it means absolutely nothing it used to mean a lot it used to be awesome means zilch it means a lot less but I do think that if you go to 24 teams it's going the regular season is going to feel different there's going to feel different. There's going to be a lot of unintended consequences when you're watching these games. Every game— It makes upsets feel less significant, too. Right. Maybe upsets are a hiccup right now. When teams beat a top-five team, it's like, yeah, we ruined their season. Our year hasn't been good, but we ruined our rivals' chances of making the playoffs. Now you can hang your hat on, and this is like, oh, yeah, we lost but we're fine yeah no i see that part for sure i don't know again i'm i'm
49:32just kind of uh i'm basically in a confused uh state of mind of trying to figure out who i am if i'm if i like the 24 i just it hit me when i was watching old miss texas and i was watching old miss lose and i was like i love watching trinidad chambliss play college football if old miss catches another loss there's a very good chance they're not in the playoff, and that's a bummer to me. That's really where it came from. I agree. I like watching Trinidad play football too. I think that 24-team playoff is very bad for the sport overall. And the best thing about it is we get to look at a bracket. Looking at the bracket is going to be fun to do. Here's my – I'll put a bow on it my i think we've already lost so much in college football that it's like this is not going to
50:13really change much that's where i've landed it after like thinking about it that it's just we've already lost rivalries conference champions all these things it's like whatever we've we've gone down this road we've lost The conferences are all fucked up. What's one more thing? Who cares? This isn't the straw that's going to break my back is essentially what I'm saying. Yeah, we're going to keep watching. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right. Should we do hot seat cool throne? By the way, I'm going to look into this peptide steroid thing. I agree with you, PFT. Fuck Max. Fuck him. I'm just saying, think about it. They're just, you know what they are? They're just not free thinkers. Also, I mean, I'm just saying, think about it. They're just, you know what they are? They're just not free thinkers.
50:49Also, I mean, there's, I'm going to dive into it more. Yeah. Not what you've encouraged me to do. You hear that, Max? Is to look even harder into it besides the 40 seconds of thought that I put in thinking about the good teams that have now become bad. Which has never happened in sports before. And the supply chain. It's never happened in sports before, dude. I'm sorry. Also, one of your teams was the Dodgers, who won two years in a row, then made the NLCS. How bad was Shohei Otani? I mean, they ran into a buzzsaw. He got hurt. Yeah. Shohei Otani. But maybe that's why. That's what I'm saying. Oh, it looks like you're on it, Max. Their team wasn't just Shohei. I know. I understand that, Hank. They were bad, though. Their team wasn't just Shohei. I know.
51:29I understand that, Hank. They were bad, though. They were bad in this place. They made the NLCS. Yes, but have you seen their lineup? I think they had the third best record in baseball. Yeah, have you seen their lineup? Second, I think. Second best. Yeah, their lineup is stacked. Yeah. They're all old, though. A lot of these teams. Sometimes people get older. A lot of these teams well there's a sometimes people get older a lot of these teams got injured that's good what are you saying a lot of these teams say it again say what you're saying say what you're saying i was like sometimes older teams get once they get past a certain age they get worse yeah yeah you know what helps with that that's what i'm
52:03saying yeah well you guys are fixated on the peptides but you said performance enhancing drugs you did say peptide you know what we'll see if if lebron james plays a full season this year okay good i i like that yeah there you go because if anybody's got it it's probably lebron yeah i mean yeah he'll he would never not be able to get his peptides or steroids if he did them yeah all right let's do uh hot sea cool drone it's brought to you by tick pick pmt is brought to you by our friends over at tick pick so this monday the eagles hosted the cowboys at lincoln financial field and max was there on the field before kickoff holding the flag that's all through tick pick the official fan experience partner of the philadelphia eagles
52:47max how great was it standing? You saw the eagle fly over your head. The eagle is sick. I saw a lot of things last night. I don't think I've ever been more starstruck than seeing that eagle go right over my head while I'm on the 35-yard line holding the American flag. It was something. That was special. So thank you to Tickpick for making that moment for Max. Max isn't the only one who gets to do stuff like this. Experience game day like never before. TickPick, the official fan experience partner of the Philadelphia Eagles, gives the fans the opportunity to hold the American flag or watch the Eagle enter the field from the locker room through the tunnel. Henry. My hot seat is WNBA. Yeah. They are playing game six of the WNBA finals. Yeah. At 1230 in the afternoon on Thursday because they did not schedule a potential. Like, they didn't know where they were going to play. The Hawks have a game at their arena so the wmba just had to like they they thought the hawks were going to move their schedule like they were
54:15upset that the hawks wouldn't reschedule their game so they could have their finals game at the that arena yeah and instead of doing it in arena with like it's like a 5 000 capacity arena they could have done it at the regular time. They chose to do 1230 in the afternoon. Which is 930 in the morning, right? For the Valkyries? For the Valkyries, for Golden State. For diehard Valkyries? Yeah, if you're a Golden State Valkyrie fan, you got to wake up and watch the W. You're fucked. It's bad. They should have just done it in a small gym. Like, there's nothing wrong with playing in a packed-ass, loud, small gym. It would probably be better than if it was in. I don't know what the attendance figures would look like.
54:54Well, 3,500 is their arena. Right. And then, like, I think they wanted to sell. But why didn't they ask Georgia Tech? I don't know. Why didn't they ask Georgia? I know Athens is in Atlanta, but, like, why didn't they ask a college? I don't know what Why didn't they ask Georgia? I know Athens is in Atlanta, but why didn't they ask a college? I don't know what the other options were, but it seems like it's a better option to play at a small-ass gym with a shitload of energy than it would be to play at noon when nobody's going to be able to make it to the game. If they're worried about ticket sales, one great way to make sure that nobody goes to the game is to do it at high noon. I mean, hey, look, as someone who has a fake job who can watch sports in the middle of the day free sports but yeah this is crazy i don't get it i don't get it at all
55:39at all are you gonna watch hank if it's on in the gambling cave and I walk by, maybe I'm eating lunch. Okay. Yeah. Nice. Are you going to bet on it? Probably not. I might bet on it. I'll bet on it. There's got to be an angle to playing a game at 1230. I'm 1-0 in the WNBA betting finals. Do you think I have sleepy legs? Maybe take the under? Yeah. Sounds good to me. Not woken up yet? The craziest part is this. What's the series at? Three to two. Who? Not Angel Reese, I think. Valkyries. Valkyries? I heard that if they win on Thursday, they're not going to be able to celebrate on the court. Why? Because there's a game later that night. So no confetti? They're going to have to just get off the court pretty quickly.
56:39That's going to be crazy. That's crazy. Like no trophy ceremony? Yeah, I think it's just like you got to get it. Actually, I do kind of love watching old videos in the 80s when teams would win a title and they would do the trophy ceremony in the locker room. There was something cool about that. Yeah. You know? They just give the Lombardi or give the Larry O'Brien in the locker room as everyone's just pouring champagne on each other. I don't know. You get the champagne on the commissioner. Yeah. There a phone on the wall there's something cool about that so maybe they can recreate that there's a phone on the wall in the locker room the president calls yeah and the owner picks up the phone thank you mr president hey great job buddy okay what are
57:21you looking for max i'm i'm trying to find like uh what you're talking about do you not like have you ever watched any old teams win a title? I've never watched like a trophy ceremony in the locker room in the 80s. No. Oh, I look at when the Raiders won the, when the Lombardi as Al Davis, I think it was like suing the league. Yeah. And the commissioner had to hand him the trophy. Yeah. There's, I think even, even like the Cowboys, boys i feel like that's that's a pretty iconic like yeah jerry johnson standing on a makeshift thing in like the bowels of a stadium hank did you know this yeah you did you yeah but the the scene pft is talking about in like a documentary any sports documentary yeah the celtics ones like larry bird red are back
58:10a lot of the mlb ones i feel like the mlb still does it sometimes like wasn't the uh oh yeah wasn't the truck guy yes yes that was in the locker that was incredible yes yeah i mean like the the like the bulls getting the trophy and the Bulls got the trophy in there as well. How have you never seen this, Max? I don't know. Hasn't come across. Did you not watch the last dance? I did watch the last dance. Okay, and, like, the 90. I don't know if it was for all six, but, like, starts, like, 90. Like, the first three bulls trophies i'm pretty sure at least one i think they were all in the in the locker room i also don't know if that solves the problem for the the wmba teams because wouldn't the other teams need the locker room to start
59:02changing there you go right there max that's david stern giving him the trophy in the locker room yeah it's cool. Okay. Yeah, I don't know. That would make for an uncomfortable scene, too. Yeah. I wish we still did that, though. That was always cool. And then the commissioner would get sprayed with champagne. Yeah. The commissioner would be soaking wet. And you'd have Bob Costa standing in there. Yeah, he'd get some of it, too. Yeah, it would just be all in there. Okay, cool throw. My cool throw is this league. Jalen Brown. Why? Jason Tatum. A lot of media back and forth. Scal Bruni might be on the hot seat, but we talked about it a little bit, I think, on last Friday's show with Jason Tatum.
59:46He put out a three-part documentary on his YouTube page, like preseason vlog stuff where he talked about the Jalen Brown trade and how he didn't know and he called him right away. Then Jalen Brown commented on an Instagram post saying, that's cap. Then Jalen Brown was doing media after their game this weekend, said that, and he said this three times, he thought it was an absolute banger. There's no beef, but there might be some lamb chops and some gravy. And Max thought that lamb was beef. Max thought lamb was beef. Yeah, what was Max's quote? It didn't make sense because lamb is also beef. I wish he said pork chops or something. No, he said there still is beef because lamb is beef. I thought all red beef was...
1:00:32No, you can't say that. You can't say red beef. That's the problem. I thought all red meat was beef. Hand up. I was wrong. Always stay ready. Yeah, like if we'd... What? Klumac? Breaking Moose. Klumac? No. Who? Quentin Nelson has been traded to the Seahawks. Oh, fuck. Oh, shit. Yeah, that's a big trade. Congrats. Congrats, Seattle. Bad. That's a big one. They might figure out how to run the football now. Yeah, they're fixing their run game. Yep. Fuck. You know what? Good for Quentin. Fuck. I'm happy. He just said he know what? Good for Quentin. Fuck. I'm happy. He just said he was going to fix everything for the Chargers. He was? Yeah. You're supposed to. That is true. Next year's over, too.
1:01:19Oh, no. Zach is still sick, by the way. Where were we? Oh, yeah. Max thinks that lamb is beef yep so is there lamb between the sixers or between jalen brown jason tatum yeah apparently j j jalen brown is like his really really spinning this narrative or running with it uh scallop brie though yesterday was on a podcast said that his sources said that jalen brown like requested to be trade traded and or made a list of demands like if you don't do these things then trade me uh that got picked up yesterday jalen brown's team like put out a statement saying that was not true. He did not request to be traded. Now Scal's in the hot seat because he had to basically backtrack everything that he said.
1:02:14So it's not going to go away. And I love Jalen Brown, but he's just like. When do you guys play? November 10th. Ooh, coming up. I don't know where it is. That would be big. Yeah. But would you say there's beef or lamb? I don't, I think it, like, I believe that the Celtics front office, who, like, I would go to the end of the earth with, and, like, they are way smarter than me. Like, they knew that they couldn't keep both. They had to make a decision they chose jason tatum for a multitude of reasons obviously it's a hard decision it's not saying jalen brown is bad but i don't like jalen and jalen brown's rightfully upset like he's a competitor he thinks he's you know the best like jason tatum thinks he's the best like that's what you want out of
1:03:05your two players like you want them to have that feeling towards themselves and be confident i don't think it's like jason tatum and jalen brown really like have personal beef i think it's just like you know jalen brown celtics and that's like turning into jason tatum in some ways but i think there's definitely beef between jalen brown and the celtics organization for sure okay there's beef and then Jalen Brown and the Celtics organization for sure. Okay. There's beef. And then the little side of lamb. Beef between Jalen Brown and the Celtics organization. Lamb between Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum. No, it's just a rivalry. It was a brotherhood. Now it's just like it's, you know. Yeah. Okay. Stay ready.
1:03:44What did he say? At all times. Stay ready at all times. Is he screaming? That's like a Utah... Is that a Utah situation for Jason Tatum? What do you mean? Is that like an assassination threat? Oh. For when he comes back? I don't know. Jason Tatum has been accused of being corny. Stay ready at all times is like a pretty crazy... It's a threat? Yeah. Right? Yeah. So he might... He's strapped to they might have to arrest you is he doing it is he doing his streams and shit is he still talking about that he's talking about what like is he still openly discussing that sort of thing on his streams that he's doing i haven't seen him stream this year this is all just like in uh in post-game press conferences yeah i wonder if he's gonna break that because i haven't seen him stream this year. This is all just like in post-game press conferences. Yeah. I wonder if he's going to break that.
1:04:29Because I haven't heard anything about his streaming activities recently. Yeah. All right. PFT? My hot seat is the Chargers. Oh. Shane, the Chargers are on the hot seat. Quentin Nelson. What do you mean? No Quentin Nelson now. Why would you trade for Quentin? No, he's a free agent after this year. Now he's going to get extended for sure. No, he's not. What do you mean? No Quentin Nelson now. Why would you trade for Quentin? No, he's a free agent after this year. Now he's going to get extended for sure. No, he's not. What do you mean? That's not for sure. Why is that for sure? Because the Seahawks need interior offensive line help, and they just traded for him. Yeah, but that doesn't necessarily.
1:05:00Would they give up? A third and a fifth, I said. All right, that doesn't guarantee, but yeah, they might extend him. So he was going to solve everything. Him and Jeremiah Smith combo. Do you think it would be more likely that he would get to the Chargers and then he'd get injured? Yes. Okay. Yeah. People are apparently interrupting Madison Beer concerts. Oh, no. Yeah. Doing what? Being like, what can you do to fix the Chargers? She was doing a Christmas concert at Disneyland. And? And someone told her to fix the chargers she was doing a christmas concert at disneyland and and someone asked told her to fix the chargers and she was like no man jeremiah smith is coming oh she said that that's good i don't think she said that oh she didn't per se
1:05:39say that but her face but her facial her facial expression said justin herbert is coming. That's what I've seen. No, man. He's like, fix the Chargers. I don't know what Chargers is. It's like Colin Coward. Jeremiah's coming. I don't think that's on her. I'll say that. Although I did appreciate Justin Herbert drinking a lot of beer on the bye week. No. No. I was just saying it was like the main. And they are, yeah. The Chargers being the only winless team right now, it's just a tough look for them. Mm-hmm. Yes. But it was a bye. We won the bye. So what's next on your list for how the Chargers are going to get fixed next year now that Quentin Nelson, that was the big piece. Quentin Nelson was the piece uh unfortunately
1:06:30we probably have to trade khalil and some other pieces to to get some picks and preferably i'd like like the gm to sign offensive linemen and then draft good players that's the key to everything okay okay very interesting right you got a cool throne yeah my cool throne is uh internet invitational it's out episode one came out i'm not sure when's episode two dropping thursday thursday coming out on thursday episode one's out we do the draft uh first round is in there got to play with my guy callum calyx from the uh from the sidemen over in uk zach was actually really pumped that he was uh the guy that i got i got paired up with in the first round um but yeah it was it was a very fun time um glad that we can finally start to talk about a little bit because the storylines are going to
1:07:17start to unfold over the next couple weeks and yeah shout out shout out lebron who's probably watching okay appreciate your viewership lebron yeah thank you, thank you, LeBron. Okay, my hot seat. We talked about it briefly on Sunday, but Michael Bidwell, that fucking asshole for the Arizona Cardinals, who owns the Arizona Cardinals. I've done a little bit more research. This guy is the worst, and I feel awful for Cardinals fans because Cardinals, the Arizona Cardinals are one of, I don't know, top five least relevant organizations. And I don't say that in a mean way. It's just the facts. They've been to the playoffs, I think, seven times in 100 plus years. And Michael Bidwell is the reason for this.
1:08:00The Bidwell family. This drives me insane. This guy doesn't want to own an NFL team. He doesn't want to spend the money to own an nfl team he wants to own an nfl team say he owns an nfl team cheap out on everything and screw over the fans they he does exactly what you'd expect uh one the so i was looking into it they used to have incredible uh training camp in Flagstaff where the fans could go. Awesome scene. Flagstaff rocks, by the way. Flagstaff rocks. 7,500 fans would be able to go see it. These are the touch points that fans need for an organization where it's like, hey, I can't afford to go to a game. Let me go to training camp. Let me bring my kids to training camp. Ended that. Now they just do it in their stadium.
1:08:48Like just said, Flagstaff didn't build this new facility. We're done with that. He created these casitas that go for like $250,000 in the end zones. Now he has like a club Rojas at the 50-yard line. Essentially every single chance he's got to push the common fan away from the seats that they've had for years and years and years. He's done for corporations and they're empty. Like I saw a picture of it. The things sit empty, but he does it because all he cares about is like the corporate greed and squeezing every single cent out of this team. They always fail the NFLPA report cards. Always. They're F on everything. I saw one story that, who was it i think it was one of a former oh they would the year they went to the super bowl any any staff members that left
1:09:37after because you went to the super bowl so there's some assistant coaches that got new jobs he just didn't pay them their bonuses he was just like fuck you You're out of here. We also had this was Robert Griffith, who used to play the safety for the Cardinals. Get this. He said that on Tuesdays when there was no one in the facility, the players weren't in the facility. He would put Michael Bidwell would put a lock on the Gatorade fridge in the locker room. So people couldn't take extra Gatorades. And then this is the part that's like, this guy is a piece of shit. Get the fuck out. I stand with all the fans, the Arizona Cardinals fans, who have been tortured by Michael Bidwell, who has never done anything,
1:10:18who's never won anything. They've gotten a couple lightning-in-a-bottle seasons, Carson Palmer, Kurt Warner, Jake Plummer, but then it's just nothing. This is the one that's nuts. So Robert Griffith, when he signed with the Cardinals, the Cardinals sent him a FedEx with the contract, and it was like a check for $500,000 was what he was getting paid, right? The check was supposed to be for $500,000. The check was for $499,985. Or $985.89. Do you know why that was, PFT? No. Because Michael Bidwell took the FedEx charges out of his check. That's how fucking cheap this guy is. Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. That's insane. You're a billionaire NFL owner. Sell the team, dude. Also, the players might be afraid to go to work on Sunday.
1:11:21Why? Because they haven't won a game in their home arena since Charlie Kirk's funeral. That's true. It took place there. I also got into a little deep dive of they might be a cursed franchise, actually cursed. So back in 1925, there was no NFL championship game. The team with the best record was declared champions on December 6th, 1925. The Pottsville Maroons beat the Cardinals 21, seven in Chicago to clinch the best record in the NFL and therefore were the unofficial NFL champions but the Maroons were suspended by the league for playing an exhibition game against Notre Dame in Philadelphia on the grounds that this exhibition game violated the Frank Frankfurt Yellow Jackets territorial rights this is insane as a result the
1:12:06Cardinals scheduled two more games against the Milwaukeewaukee badgers and hammond pros the badgers had substituted high school players on their roster letting them clinch the best record in the league and therefore the nfl championship and this was the bidwells have owned it forever uh so after the season the cardinals owner chris o'brien refused to accept the 1925 championship, saying it was awarded unfairly. So the Cardinals added two games. Owner said, okay, we're not actually going to take this championship because it's not fair. But when the Bidwells bought the team in the 1930s, they accepted the championship. To this day, the Cardinals have been one of the least successful teams in NFL history, having only seven playoff wins since 1925,
1:12:49three of which came in 2008. Give back that 1925 trophy. Yeah, that's pretty disgusting that they did that. They bought the team and they're like, actually, we are going to take this. So, yeah, his name was the original owner was Charles Bidwell. His nickname was Blue Shirt Charlie. Okay. And he ran a uh a racing stable or racing uh race course he's a racehorse guy i do love by the way when you go through the nfl history and everyone's like disgusted that gambling has become synonymous with the nfl and drafting stuff like dude just do a little history lesson on how the league started because a lot of these guys were horse racing bookies all that stuff yeah so so i guess maybe i'm reading this wrong but he so he made his money uh in horse racing and then he
1:13:34bought uh shares and he loaned he loaned money to uh george hallis yeah to keep it afloat and then essentially he's like claiming titles and games won while his money was still out on the street he's like that's my because i i loaned you yeah he's a loan shark yeah yeah and they think it's just fuck this bidwell guy fuck the family fuck i mean the cardinals fans i know they might not be the the strongest fan base there's a lot of transplants that live in arizona so their home crowds have it tough i get all that but there's still a strong like you know dedicated diehard group of fans and they get screwed over by this guy he's he's he's cheap he doesn't want to win they don't they don't hire the right people he's been like investigated for a million different
1:14:19things they always get f's sell the team all right i uh i don't have a cool throne because that was a lot i i talked too much oh cool, cool throne. Yaxel Lindenberg. He's really good. Yeah, he's off to a good start. Stephen Chase said that he is the NBA Rookie of the Year, and it's not even close. That's fair. It's been three games, but yeah, not even close. He is averaging 21-9-4. Caleb Wilson. Caleb Wilson has been very good, but the problem is the Bulls stink. Stink. Yeah. Stink. Stink. So it's hard to win Rookie of the Year when your team stinks is the Bulls stink. Stink. Yeah. Stink. So it's hard to win Rookie of the Year when your team stinks. Kale Wilson's good. He's really good. He's fun.
1:14:53Like I said, we were talking about it off air. Bulls just got to find a way to find two more Kale Wilsons, and then we'd be cooking. He's just the most athletic dude on the court. He's got it, and everywhere on the court he can score from, and it's fun to watch, but the team is bad. All right, anything else from the booth? Because Zach's out. Shane? Sorry for the long-winded bidwell, but I fucking hate these type of owners. They're just the worst. They absolutely drive me insane. They screw over the fans time and time again, and no one speaks up about it, and it just drives me nuts. They don't care about winning. Get someone who cares about winning. Shane? Shout out to Devils connor hellebuck okay yeah trade yeah shout out them nice nice okay cool um we're gonna talk to booger a lot about college football i have a
1:15:41question for you big cat because i i watched a lot of games this weekend yeah um there was there's a lot of bad football on TV. Yeah. But there were some very exciting games, too. Yeah. Is Lenore Sellers good is my question. That's my prompt for you because I've gone back and forth the last two years watching him and thought to myself, this guy is the best player on the field. And then thought to myself, this guy sucks. And it's like week to week. Yeah. But when he's good, it feels like he's awesome. It feels like he's the best guy. So I don't know. My question is just, is Lenore Sellers good? I don't know the answer to that, but I will say Lenore Sellers does things that very few, if not anyone, can do.
1:16:21That touchdown he scored with that second effort against Tennessee, I don't know another quarterback that can do that. Like, that was the strength, strength body control everything involved was insane and when he's on when he looks good he looks great so I think it's to be determined but also yes is that a good answer I think he's good determined but yes I think he's, but sometimes good players have bad games. Yeah. He's a good player that will have a great game. Scroll up, Max, if you're looking for the touchdown that I'm talking about. This is the effort. It was, he had, like, he was already slowed down and then had a defender running full speed at him to push him back, and he still was able to find a way in.
1:17:11He's very fun. This is kind of another one of those, I don't want to do the 2014 playoffs thing. But South Carolina is one of those weird teams where it's like, they could beat anyone on any day. They could also lose and look absolutely terrible and be a garbage team. But what a fucking effort. That's a man right there, effort. He's so good. That's a man right there, Max. He's good. What? What are you going to say, Max? Max? I got nothing. You got nothing? I got nothing. Nothing? I'm thinking about something, but I'm not ready to say it. Real quick. Say it. What if in the 2014 playoff, I saw someone talk about this online, and I like the idea. If you make the Big Ten and the SEC championship like the second round of it.
1:17:55How? This is why you weren't ready to say it. Yeah, I wasn't ready to say it. No, I agree. So you put me into a spot that I wasn't ready to go into. I agree, because I'm trying to think about it, and I don't know how. I may have bookmarked it. I probably didn't. I don't know what you mean. But wouldn't that also ensure that two very, very good SEC teams and two very, very good Big Ten teams? No, but in the playoff, they get... I understand that it's a playoff game. If you finish in the top two, you get a bye. I forget how it went. Okay. Cool. I wasn't ready to say it. I wasn't ready to say it. I wasn't ready to say it. I don't think that the leagues would want their best two teams playing against each other and then having one
1:18:33be eliminated early on in the playoffs. No, but it would be... The winner of that is in the Final Four. Don't like that either. No. I wasn't ready to say it. Yeah. Okay. This isn't my fault. No, it's not. Alright, PFT. Let's do the ads, then we'll ready to say it. Yeah. Okay. This isn't my fault. No, it's not. All right, PFT. Let's do the ads, then we'll get to Booger. 1:21:22Boog, always great to see you. I feel like we're right in that sweet spot of the football season where we figured out a lot of things, but we still have a lot of football left. Do you want to start with college? Because college has been fantastic. Well, first of all, let's start with some housekeeping. Okay. Number one, make sure you make a note to send me the book because I still haven't got my copy of the book. Okay. Done. On it. Done. On it right now. Are you going to read it or do you just want it? No, I'm going to read the book because i still haven't got my copy of the book okay done on it done on it right now are you gonna read it or you do you just want it no i'm gonna read the book anything
1:21:52with my faces on it i'm definitely gonna read it okay i got people i got people coming up to me at restaurants telling me man it's so cool that you're on the book i'm like yeah it would be cool if i could see it so just so you know uh your people and my people are vibing and uh i get contacted at restaurants from total strangers but it's cool that your demo feels very comfortable coming up and having conversations with me because sometimes it'll just be like four or five like dudes at a table and there's just this random middle-aged white guy just pops up and starts interrupting the conversation. He says, yeah, hey, man, I just love you on part of my take. And I'm like, you know what? Those are my guys, man.
1:22:35Yeah, those are people. Love that. They have very low filter when it comes to interrupting dinners. Yes, yes. You're 100% correct, yeah. I'm buying it right now, by the way. I'm buying it right now and sending it to you, so that will be done. You'll have that within, I don't know, you'll probably, with Amazon, you'll probably have a drone, you know, drop it into your pool later on today. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So any other housekeeping? No, we're good. Let's, let's do it. All right. I've been, I've been working out. I've been, I've been lifting. I've been walking. The results are going to take a little bit of time. I'm not going to do like a big torso reveal until maybe Super Bowl week, but I just want to let you know I am taking care of myself.
1:23:12As it pertains to the walking, is this level walking? Are we doing like uphill, incline walking? Like give me a little breakdown of this walk. The walk right now has been just in my neighborhood because it's been an unbelievable october in chicago and i want okay i'm trying to get outside knowing that the winter's on its way when i'm on the treadmill i do a little bit of incline i go about i do incline at 11 and the speed's at like 3.3 try to get like a mile and a half two miles in yeah how's that i love it okay i will just add one thing for you that will it's going to seem a little weird and you'll probably not want to do it because it's going to attract a lot of attention when you're walking especially if you have if you're
1:23:59walking in like an open area or you whatever in a park in chicago walk backwards for like 20 seconds turn around walk forward for like 30 seconds, and alternate walking backwards. Whole different feel, buddy. Okay. Okay, I like that. Yeah, that's going to look stupid. I'm going to look really stupid. No question. Yeah. All right. Yeah, I already look stupid. All right, let's talk some college football. So this past weekend, we were joking about it on Monday's show. What I love about this season in in college football is it feels like every week has a theme or has a main character uh two weeks ago it was the sec because we had georgia lose and alabama lose and all this stuff and it was you know tennessee gets
1:24:42the big win this week it was the big 12 with you know by, BYU losing to UCF and the Utah-Houston game and just chaos everywhere. In your mind, and I want to start with the Big 12, how many teams in the Big 12 are going to be in the playoffs? And do you think they actually have a chance to go, you know, like deep? I'm talking semifinals, finals, like Texas Tech lost to Cincy. It was a crazy Big 12 weekend. I think when you look at the Big 12, I think top of mind, you know, the top teams that we look at, BYU, Utah, Texas Tech, like to me, those are going to be the teams that are going to be right there. I think that, you know, Houston, Connor Wigman, Willie Frisch, they're doing an outstanding job there, but they just fell a little short.
1:25:33The Utah, Texas Tech losing to Cincinnati. I think when it's all said and done, I think you're going to wind up. BYU is going to be the best team in the Big 12. It's just something about a guy wearing number 47, playing quarterback, Bear Bachmeier. I don't put much on the loss yeah they lost the ucl that's a tough trip man to go 2 000 miles from provo utah to orlando florida i got news for you fellas it's still 85 and sunny here in florida all right those guys who came from provo utah they hadn't felt humidity probably in the last two years. And it was warm. The bounce house was moving. And so that was, if there's any such thing as a good loss, I don't look at that loss as a bad loss because they walked into a hornet's nest.
1:26:20I like what Utah is doing, Deb and Dan Pierre. I think the Holy War is going to be something fierce when you talk about BYU and Utah. But I think in the end I think BYU is the best team uh in the big 12 I think Texas Tech is not what we thought they were going to be uh just repeating last year to this year um just not the same defense I think uh I'm not sure that Will Hammond uh is is as good as what they had last year, the quarterback position. So I'm going to lean toward BYU. Yeah, you're right about Texas Tech. It's not only like offensively they're not the same, but, yeah, like the loss of like a David Bailey, Rodriguez, like all these guys that were just – we kind of took for granted Cody Campbell's going to be able to go and just pluck these guys
1:27:07all around the country. It's like, no, that was a pretty special defense last year with some really good pros. And to replicate that's very difficult to do. Completely agree. And by the way, how about Cody Campbell just goes to Twitter and just says, hey, we shouldn't be losing to Cincinnati. It's amazing, you know, when you got the money, you can say whatever you want to say, right? Yeah. Big time. and when you got the money, you can say whatever you want to say, right? Yep. Yeah. Big time. What about the Big Ten? Because I feel like nobody really knows who the best team in the Big Ten is with Sane being knocked out. Who knows? He might be out for a couple weeks, might be out, I guess, indefinitely now is what the word is.
1:27:42But if it's not Ohio State, who is the team from the Big Ten? Because I don't think that there's a dominant team in the Big Ten right now. No, there's no dominant team. In situations like this where the teams are so close, I'm going to lean toward the team that I think has the best coach, and that's Indiana. Although, Cignetti seems so pissed off with Josh Hoover, it's unreal. He was like, I should have benched him this weekend. And I know there's some injury concern and I get all that. San, to me, seems like Ohio State is going to probably take a step back. Julian Sand, I don't think he plays again this year, guys. I think if you look at the elbow, it seems very similar to what Carson Beck had. And Carson Beck
1:28:19couldn't throw a ball for nine months. I don't know if it's the same, but it just seems similar to me. I think Indiana's the best team in the Big Ten. I think UCLA and what Bob team in the Big Ten. I think UCLA and what Bob Chesney are doing. How about that head of hair, by the way? Bob Chesney. People in Penn State, which they would have pulled the trigger on that deal, but that's a whole different story. I think Indiana, I think UCLA, just because they understand who they are, their identity is really good. You know, I'm not discounting ohio state um depending upon what ryan day can do at the quarterback position but i think right now i would lean toward indiana ucla i love way and i know they may not win the big 10 and probably not but i love what chip kelly
1:29:00northwest yeah yeah it is it is phenomenal i texted chip and i simply said hey can you come up with any more run plays in the A-gap? Like every time I look up, you're just running up the A-gap somewhere. He's got so many different formations. Northwestern's playing really good football. I think those are the team. And Michigan, not if they simply – No, no. Hold on, hold on, hold on. I'm not saying Michigan is competing. But I will say this. I like this version of Michigan with Tommy Carr better than I did the version of Michigan with Bryce Underwood. And I know Portnoy may not like that, but to me Tommy Carr is a better quarterback at this stage than Bryce Underwood. It seems they haven't mentioned, what about Minnesota?
1:29:47It seems like they're really rallying behind their coach, who's kind of, you know, he's putting everybody in front of him. He doesn't need the spotlight. He's like, you know, gather around, guys. This is going to be about you. It's not about me. And we're all about the Golden Gophers here, not about the name on the front of the coach's office. Been fun to see. I love it. Listen, hey, P.J. Fleck, baby, row the boat. I love it. Listen, I'm not a boat guy, but I don't mind all right listen hey pj flag baby rode the boat i love it i love listen i'm not a boat guy but i don't mind it i'm definitely not going to roll the boat i'm going to put a motor in the back up and let the motor put the boat forward so um but as far
1:30:17as minnesota's because minnesota has some good wins man like so far um i love what minnesota's doing i just don't know if they have the top end talent to be able to compete when it's when you start talking about competing with indiana when you start talking about competing with Indiana, when you start talking about competing with Ohio State, UCLA. Like, those are the top teams in the Big Ten. But Indiana's having a nice year. Nothing against – listen, nothing against Indiana. There's some football left to be played, and Indiana's going to get their opportunity. They're going to have to prove me wrong, though, as far as I would lean toward the other teams. Yeah. And would you consider Oregon to be the biggest disappointment this year?
1:30:55Yeah. I mean, when you think about cost of roster relative to expectation, relative to reality, 100%. And the fact that the head coach is firing the offensive coordinator, the fact that they have three losses already, the quarterback is not coming back, which I don't blame him. I mean, he he was knocked out. There's no need for him to come back this year on a team that's got three losses. And Dan Lanning, like someone made this statement and you tell you guys tell me if you think this is true. I didn't say this. I heard it. Let me preface. I like someone said someone said dan lanning is the james franklin of the west coast yeah okay right now it's it's it's feeling that way because listen he's had incredible years but they've always lost
1:31:40when it comes to playing the big game when it comes to the playoffs or you know that that big moment they've gotten embarrassed and what happened to james franklin last year what happened was he started losing the small games too and dan lanning losing to an illinois team that has been really really bad this year uh that like he had dante moore out for the rest of the year he's not coming back which i listen i have no problem with that i think he's probably making a smart decision of like, hey, this season's over. I would just say that like it's a little disrespectful to James Franklin because the body of work that James Franklin put into losing the big games, the track record there was 11 years.
1:32:21Danny Lanning's a flash in the pan compared to James Franklin. Let's pump the brakes on that. He's been there what? Four years? He's been there what? Five years? Yeah. Four years. I think he's been there four years. And I think James Franklin was at Penn State 11 years. All I'm saying is just a little respect for the body of work that Coach Franklin put out there. Yeah. James Franklin was like, he was what? At one point, he was like 0-10 against everybody. 0-10 against Michigan and Penn State. No, no, he had that one win remember it was that one win that he like kept on going back to i think it was like 2016 or something the one win i the one thing i love about uh right now in in college football and like kind of the
1:33:01parody that we have it feels like we were getting to a point in the schedule where there's just a lot of elimination games like we're talking about the big 10 by the way i think indiana is still the class of the big 10 i know hoover's been disappointing their defense is a top top like whatever you want to call it top three defense they'll be in every game and they can get hoover to kind of figure out a little bit because they have the wide receivers but wisconsin my badgers playing playing Iowa this weekend both two lost teams the winner of that game the door is open because I do think that we're in a world where a two lost big 10 or SEC team is almost automatically in I wouldn't say automatically I think if you get to 10 and 2
1:33:43then you feel really comfortable going to sleep at night about the playoff. I think there's going to be one, maybe two nine and three teams, but those two teams are going to come from the SEC in the Big Ten. Now, who they are, I'm not sure. I think if you can get the ten and two, you feel really good. Nine and three, boy, it's going to be some sleepless nights because now you're depending upon what happens in other situations, what happened in other games. Let me throw this to you, Al, since we're on the record. Let's say Notre Dame loses to Miami, and Notre Dame is 10-2. I think they're out. I know they have the provision that if they're in the top 12, they're in the playoff. Yep. Do you think a 10-2 Notre Dame losing their two biggest games of the season
1:34:26to BYU and Miami, you think they get in? I think that it will weirdly come down to a team that I have very little faith in. The Notre Dame will not control their own destiny. It will all come down to SMU. If SMU can get to the Notre Dame game with only one loss, loss and potentially because i think they have wake forest coming up smu could potentially be a top 10 team giving notre dame another chance for a big win that might be how they get in if smu loses to syracuse or loses to virginia tech or lose it's if that matchup smu versus notre dame is an is unranked smu i think notre dame is gonna have a hard time getting in with two losses and the basically the only two really good teams they played uh losing to them I'll say this I I think they get
1:35:18in but I would not want to be an Irish or Catholic sitting there attending to on selection Sunday because of what happened last year and and to your point if SMU is not it like if the smu notre dame game is not a top 10 game yeah and if smu is ranked like 23 24 or not ranked then you start to get really really nervous if you're an irish yeah there's just not enough that's the problem with their schedule it's like the they can't pick up those big wins down the stretch that get them to a point where they're in. So, yeah, it also depends on how they lose to Miami. If they lost a close one, that's different. If they got blown out, I think it's kind of packing up, boys. It's not happening. Yeah, if it's a blowout.
1:36:03But if it's relatively close, I think they got to get in. Well, they have the provision, so they probably will. They wrote themselves into the playoff. It'd be pretty much breaking the law to leave them out. They've got to get in. Well, they have the provision, so they probably will. They wrote themselves into the playoff. It'd be pretty much breaking the law to leave them out. Jumping back to UCLA real quick, because looking at their schedule, there's a chance that UCLA goes undefeated through the Big Ten season. There is a chance. They should be favored in every game that they play from here on out, except we don't know who the quarterback's going to be. And the reason why I say they still should be favored is because they haven't been overly
1:36:33relying on a passing game. They haven't had spectacular play from the quarterback position, even when they had Nico back there. Do we know anything about what they're going to do at quarter? Is it going to be Nico's brother Madden? Is Madden going to Madden? No, it's been the kid. And forgive me if I screw his name up. I think his name is Dezenbach. Yeah, Dezenbach. Yeah, but heiffenbacher, Diesenbach, yeah. But he got hurt. He got injured in the last. So I don't know if he's going to miss extended time. I'm not sure. I haven't heard that. You know, usually Pete Thamel comes out with the injury report on a Wednesday night. You start seeing tweets about injuries. But to me, it really doesn't matter because of the style that Chesney wants to play.
1:37:10Like this little running back Bam Knight is outstanding. They brought him over from James Madison. Wayne Knight, yeah. Yeah, like he's brought a lot of those guys. Everybody says it's like Cignetti. He brought a lot of guys with him from JMU to Indiana. Now Chesney is doing the same thing from JMU out to UCLA. But what that creates is it creates an identity. Like UCLA is a physical football team. They ran the football down to Oregon Stoke. Like that's what they do to you. They line up and they just beat the hell out of you. And Chesney is a really, really good coach. I saw a special on him or a little segment where kind of they followed the coaches around at practice. Man, the culture that he creates is the same type of culture that you want when you can't wait to get to work.
1:37:54Like you can't wait to get to work because you know you're going to laugh, you're going to have some fun, you're going to work hard. Like that's the camaraderie that you've got to have. And you can tell why he's a good coach based on that little snippet of video that I saw. But they run the football and they control the line of scrimmage. They get after you from a defensive line standpoint. So that's a formula. They're going to be in every ballgame, no matter who the quarterback is. And if little Iomali Alba comes in, as long as he doesn't screw it up, they'll be okay. Yeah, hand the ball off. What about the SEC, Booger? Let's talk about your LSU Tigers and the rest of the SEC because they keep cannibalizing themselves.
1:38:30It's like whoever's good in the SEC, they go on, they lose the next week. So are we at the point now where we're going to see LSU now kind of ascend for the rest of the regular season back to the top where we thought that they would be over the next few weeks? Well, the opportunity's there. They got a week off this week, and then if they are – if LSU goes 3-1 or or four and oh I think they're in the playoff they got uh Bama at home they got Texas at home they got to go to Rocky Top and then they go uh to Pig Suet so everything is right in front of them um I think Sam Levitt's playing really really good football right now he finally understand they got Trey Desgris back they just beat the hell out of Auburn, so now you get a week
1:39:12off. And I think if you're at 6-2, the first eight, you lose on the last play against Kentucky. You lose basically on the last play against Ole Miss. I think LSU and Lane feel really good about where they are, aside from the fact that the SEC office put the Alabama game at 230. Other than that, I think they feel really, really good about where they are. Yeah. Kentucky. Go ahead. I was just going to say, like, we talked about Notre Dame. It's a law that they get written into the college football playoff. LSU has a law where any time they play a big game, two ranked teams playing, it has to be at night. You guys always get that night game. But I think that's a reaction to, you know, everything that's been going on.
1:39:51The piston match has been going on between Baton Rouge and Birmingham. I think – I'm not saying that that has something to do with it, but I'm not saying it doesn't have anything to do with it. Right, right. Kentucky, man, Kentucky's schedule, man, is very – I think it's very favorable. They've only lost one conference game. Kentucky has an opportunity, man. Even though they may not be the most talented team in the conference, Kentucky is going to wind up with a really good record. Yeah. I think the best team in the SEC right now, if you asked me to pick one, I'd say Georgia. Yep. Because even though they lost to Auburn, it was kind of fluky. I mean, Gunnar Stockton turned the ball over three times.
1:40:30It was just a weird game i think george is the best team um i think alabama's only got two losses they got it they got a schedule in front of them that's that's right there i think when you look at um you know texas is an anomaly man just because um if you if you listen to everything that's going on, it's like, man, the sky's falling. But Texas has, what, two losses, right? Yep. Texas got two losses, and they went out there in the playoff, and everybody says, Arch is terrible. Like, we're at the point, Big Cat, to your point earlier in the podcast. Everybody now knows who they are, but everybody has enough football in front of them where they can still accomplish all their goals. I think Alabama, I think LSU,
1:41:21I think Ole Miss, I think Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, like all those teams have everything right there in front of them. And I think November 7th, next Saturday, not this Saturday, next Saturday to me is going to determine a lot. Ole Miss, excuse me, Georgia at Ole Miss. If Georgia wins that game, I think Georgia kind of solidifies themselves. If Ole Miss wins that game, now Georgia's got two losses, just like Ole Miss. Bama, LSU, whoever wins that game, it's not an elimination game, but it feels like it. Yeah. Okay? Because whoever loses that game is going to have three losses in the SEC. So I think November 7th has an opportunity to be one of the biggest days in college football in recent memory.
1:42:05Yeah. It's one of those days where you wake up, you take the walk, or you tell the wife, hey, take the kids to Disneyland and y'all just hang out all day. Yeah. And we're just going to sit back and just watch football from – I think there's a game – I think the Holy Wars – Yeah, Holy Wars. It's 10 a.m., isn't it? No, 10 a.m. local. It's noon Eastern, but 10 a.m. local, which is crazy. I don't know why they did that to Holy Wars. You're thinking the WNBA championship game. By the way, Booger does live in Florida, so when he says take your kids to Disneyland, I don't know if anyone else could do that, but I like that. I mean, you wake up, get the donuts, and you're ready to go. What about, are we going to get to this Saturday,
1:42:42and if Florida wins, should we be taking them seriously too? Florida is a really flawed team. However, they haven't lost since they switched quarterbacks. And I'm very curious who starts the game. Is it going to be Aaron Fowler or Tramell Jones? I would start Tramell Jones just because I think you don't lose much as a passer and you gain much more athletic ability. So I'm not sure what John Summerall is going to do. It's basically a Georgia home game in the Georgia Dome. I think Florida's going to play really, really well. Florida's defensive line is outstanding. I think that game is going to be a fourth quarter game. Yeah. Georgia, Florida, what about this? What if Florida beats Georgia and Ole Miss beats Georgia? Then
1:43:26Georgia's eliminated. The next few weeks are going to really determine, the next two weeks, specifically November 7th, I think determines who wins the SEC. Yeah. It is going to be awesome to watch, and there are just, like, all these, like, elimination games where it – Hey, by the way, by the way, I know you guys went down to Baton Rouge and hung out with Lane. Are you guys going back down for a game at all? Funny you mention, Booker, I'm going to be down there that weekend of the Alabama game. Are you going to be there? No, I got to work. But I was going to tell you guys, if you're looking for a game to go to, the Alabama game will be cool just because they hate us, we hate them. I got a feeling that the Texas game will be at night.
1:44:07Yeah. And Arch Manning in Baton Rouge, you have to understand that the mannings are not really a fan of lsu so it's gonna be it's gonna and they'll be in the stands so it's it's it's a lot of like depending on what happens november 7th that game texas at lsu has the makings of an all-timer you should you should come to lsu that weekend on friday night uh my band is opening up for shack at fred's it It's going to be great. You know what? Send a jet. I'll come. I just got to be back in Connecticut by 1 o'clock on Saturday. Yeah, should be a good time. What about Miami? Is Miami just the best team in college football? Miami's the best team in the ACC. I think at their best, they have – I think they're healthier and they have more talent than anybody.
1:44:56Now, the talent hasn't quite lived up to the billing yet. The defensive line isn't as productive as it was last year with Bain and Mesador, even though they got Moten, they got Lightfoot, they got Armando Blount, they got Damon Wilson. Like, they got a bunch of names, but those guys haven't played to the level of Bane and Messador just yet they can beat you a number of ways man they got Mallory they got Fletcher Jr. tailback Darian Mensah I don't think he uh missed his very many passes I think his completion percentage is like 80 on the year uh and then Malachi Tony is the best um he he best he's not the best receiver he's the most versatile receiver in the country I'm not going to disrespect Jeremiah Smith
1:45:37I think Jeremiah Smith is the second coming of Calvin Johnson but Malachi Tony can do it all and with the ball in his hands like he does that run after catch he's unreal and he's a dog man like he is a true dog Miami is super talented but can we say that Miami's been tested? Like, Florida State, I don't think anybody thought they were going to lose to Florida State, regardless of what was going on. Have they been tested? Will Notre Dame test Miami? And so you have to wonder, if Miami goes through this season, and let's say they beat Notre Dame, or they walk over Notre Dame, and they get to the playoffs, and they go against, I don't know, Georgia. Do we really know what we're going to get because they haven't been tested?
1:46:19But I will give you this. Up until this point right now, they've been the best team week in and week out in college football. Yeah, and they got to run it. I love watching Fletcher run the ball. Yeah, he's a big kid. yeah uh book do you have a let's just do a touch on the nfl real quick yeah can you give me let's go let's do three teams in the afc three teams the nfc you think can win the super bowl because i actually think the list is getting smaller and smaller and there's maybe some teams that are i don't't want to call frauds, but like they've had a nice start, but I don't know if I trust them when we get to late season football. Let's start in the AFC. Buffalo, Josh Allen, complete freak. Joe Brady is more of a risk taker than Sean McDermott.
1:47:14Whether or not that's good or bad, we're going to find out. I'm just telling you what his DNA is. I think Cincinnati with Joe Burrow, if they're healthy, like Cincinnati can be a juggernaut, man. They are a wagon when they're healthy, especially if Sexy Dex is motivated and the defensive line is really good. I would go Cincinnati. This is where it gets tough. The easy pick is Kansas City. But my biggest fear with Kansas City happened to them Sunday night. When you can't run the ball and play bully ball, who the hell are they throwing the football to? Yeah. Yeah. yeah they got like like they got nobody a receiver yeah i nobody i i agree i i like i know we'll see we'll find out on sunday because they play each other but i think i trust the broncos more than i touch
1:48:05trust the chiefs right now because i just think the broncos defense is such a strong unit that if bo nicks can get a little bit out of his own head, that team's a really tough out. And the Jaguars is the other one out there. That's exactly where I was going to go. So if you told me the hierarchy, I'm going – it's going to be Buffalo, Cincinnati, Denver, Jacksonville, and the asterisk is going to be by Kansas City just because my biggest fear for them happened on Sunday night when some people say hey Kenneth Walker you're not running the ball now you're going to ask Worthy Rasheed Rice and Kelsey who I mean Kelsey's still doing it but he's not the Kelsey of old so uh those will be my teams in the in the afc nfc um man i think seattle regardless of what the
1:48:57record is i love the coach i love what they do san francisco i just don't know how healthy they're going to be by the time the tournament starts like every year we get this same question like kyle shanahan has a great coach, but damn, even Chef Emeril, he needs some ingredients to cook. Like, he can't cook on – he can't cook air. He needs something. Yep. Then, let's see, Seattle, San Francisco. I'm out on the Rams. I'm just going to be honest with you. I'm out. Fair? Yeah. Well, yeah, it's very fair. I mean, what are they now, three and four? Like, I'm out. Even when Miles Garrett gets back, even at some point, Devontae Adams is going to come back in like eight or ten weeks. Like, Matthew is older.
1:49:42Like, I'm out. Chicago? Yeah. Chicago to me, if you told me right now today, you can hang your hat on one team, it's going to be Chicago. My only question, Big Cat, about your team in Chicago is, man, can you hold a team under 24 every week? Can we do that? Big time question. That's totally fair. Cornerback position's been tough. Defensive line. Dennis Allen is a really good coach. I think we're punching above our weight when it comes to that. But, yeah, I honestly think, like, the Monday night game, Seattle versus the Bears are going to Seattle. I'm very excited for that game because it's like, hey, let's see where we – I think Seattle's the top. I'm not going to argue that. They've done it.
1:50:30Yeah, that is a measuring stick. It's are you really, really for real, depending on how you play against the Seahawks in Seattle, who have made a lot of quarterbacks look really bad. Like, that's just a fact. And I would add to this. You see, I'm not the guy, which is why I threw Seattle in there. I'm not big just because your record says you. Like, nah, I get it. But, like, do we all think Minnesota – like, if I told you Minnesota was a Super Bowl contender, would you say true or false? False. I would say let me see these next four games because I think their next four games are Bills, Lions, Packers, Niners. Let me see those next four games against truly elite offenses. I would say false right now because we haven't – the offense –
1:51:14I don't think you can say with a straight face that the offense is Super Bowl caliber. No. Nobody would say that. So, like, they're a deeply flawed football team when it comes to that side of the ball. I do trust their coach. I think he's a good offensive mind. So there's definitely a possibility that they can figure something out and become an average to above average offense in which case yes i would say that they are definitely a super bowl contender but right now no let me just throw out one thing okay and i i agree with what pft said but i'm just gonna i'm gonna throw out devil's advocate just for fun right okay last year we all kind of said like early, early in the season, the Seahawks were, what, like 30-1 or something?
1:51:53Yeah. Outside the Super Bowl favorite list. They started, I think I want to say 3-2. Remember there was that one Sam Darnold game, too, where he threw a bunch of picks. Their defense is really, really good, but is their offense that good? We don't know. I'm not saying they're the same because i do think the sea like i don't think the vikings are there but could you squint your eyes and see like hey this defense is so elite they have justin jefferson a jsn comp can maybe jordan mason get running i don't know like seattle had a great running game last year yeah yeah and i think i think the vikings like their running game has not been good. They also have been injured. I'm just saying, throw it out there.
1:52:34Their defense has given them a little bit of leeway, where if their offense can catch up a little bit, that's just an insane defensive unit right now. To your point, Boomer and I describe the Minnesota Vikings like this. It's that defensive play caller is elite. Defense is really elite. Off defensive play caller is elite. Defense is really elite. Offensive play caller, elite. Offensive skill players, elite. Quarterback, though. Like, you just don't know what you're going to get out of the little guy, man. Like, and he's the wild card. Like, you have no idea what the little guy's going to do. That's why I love him. Because you would say if i got jefferson addison hockinson mason jones jr man we we feel like we can score some points yep do you know
1:53:19do you know kyler murray's only uh scored i want to say five touchdowns as the starting quarterback for the minnesota vikings it's been bad like that's terrible yeah Yeah. Yeah. Their leading scorers are a kicker. So I'm not a believer yet, PFT. I think I'm on your side. I need to see the next three or four weeks. Yeah. You go three and one during that time, maybe even two and two, I'll have a different outlook on the Minnesota Vikings. Yeah. I think it could happen. I'm not saying that it can't happen right now. I don't think anyone can say, like, you can picture that team as it's currently made up. Although I guess the one argument against that would be we have seen completely dominant defenses drag their quarterback
1:54:03across the finish line in years past, but those are the exceptions. It's very, very rare, and it would have to be truly an elite once-in-a-generation defense to see that. I don't know if we can say that just yet what can we go back to the afc real quick because there's two teams i wanted to talk to you about sure let's do it from the same division um both have good records but we did not include them in a mention of uh of one of the super bowl caliber team first is the cleveland browns the cleveland browns there's a reason they win football games yeah do and and you do not believe in the cleveland browns well i don't think you do either but go ahead well not not especially uh i think that they've got a really really good defense
1:54:42i think they got a really good defense i've loved jerry versus he's got over there denzel ward i love the linebacker what's his name from ucla swessinger whatever like he reminds me of a bigger version of upft like he's got hair running everywhere yeah like i like it hell yeah um but i mean do do we really know what we're gonna get out of deshaun watson no he's played well i'll give him credit he's played well this season better than a lot of people thought but do we honestly think we're gonna have him compete with burrow um josh allen and some of the other teams that we like on that side of the tournament i don't so yeah it's a nice story i love what they're doing happy for todd munkin he waited a long time to be a head coach i don't't put Cleveland in the Super Bowl contender category.
1:55:32Okay. I was also going to ask you about the Steelers, but now just thinking about the Steelers. Yeah. I don't believe that they're Super Bowl contenders either. They're above average team and the offense looks a little bit better. The running game's good, good defense. So instead, let me ask you about the Houston Texans, because you can tell us probably better than anybody. What's wrong with the defense? Why does the defense that seemingly has the same pieces that it had in the past, same coaching, why do they look so different than we've seen the last couple years? So here's what I'll say. Think about this, guys. Like, it's human nature. We told them last year and the year before, it's the best defense that we've seen in a long time.
1:56:12Last year, it's the best defense that we've seen in a long time last year it was historic so we went into this offseason kept saying man if cj shrub returns back this defense is dominant this defense is historic here's the great thing about football football you never are who you were you have to do it again and again and again. And I think human nature, a lot of those guys started seeing, man, we're great, man, we're great. They were on the cover of Sports Illustrated. They were being lauded as the defense like the 2002 Bucs or the 01 Ravens or whatever, like these great defenses. They hadn't earned that yet. We got rings, buddy. We got hardware. They were putting them in the category of some of the great defenses,
1:56:58and they hadn't earned those stripes. But human nature says this. Man, I started listening, man. I think I'm pretty good. Man, we all right. Cover sports, cool. We there. And they haven't played that way. And what happens is it's the little things, man. Think about what makes this podcast great. It's the little things like anybody can get on here and talk and do all that. But what makes you guys great is the little details that make your you. And the moment you stop doing the little shit, as Marinelli told me years ago, shit creeps in. And you don't want it to creep in. Like, you got to keep doing the little things. And I see Houston is not doing the little things that they've done in the past.
1:57:41And it's not like 10 or 15 things a game. It's a couple things here. It's a couple things there. But it's those things that cause you to lose ballgames. So I think that's the issue. Other than that, it's the same bodies other than reed blankenship yeah it's the same bodies same people but how come the same people can't perform the same way because this might this might be a dumb thought that i had but because the offense has been so bad in the past for the texans and this year we're seeing signs of life from it they've looked pretty good like cj stroud's played pretty good overall good overall if you look at the body of work is is that kind of a thing where the defense has been used to be like having all the pressure on them so like we got to go out
1:58:20and win this game ourself and because they have an offense you lose some of that edge some of that like some of the small details that they had before when they knew that winning this game was 100% going to be on them over the last couple years does that have you ever seen that creep into uh the mindset of a unit no i'll give you an example so when i was in tampa um we were like oh and four or five man we were terrible we couldn't score any points i got traded on a tuesday afternoon wednesday morning i got to indiana and played for the Colts. That Sunday, playing for the Colts, I want to say the Colts came out. I want to say Peyton and the offense scored like 14 in the first quarter. I haven't seen 14 points in the first quarter in forever.
1:59:03It made me want to go play harder. Like, I was like, everybody's like, man, this dude is jacked up. I'm like, dude, y'all don't understand what it's like to have a quarterback in the offense that can score points. Like, it makes the defense want to play harder. So if C.J. Stroud is playing the way he is, which is really good football, I would think that the defense would want to go out and know, hey, we got 14-20. The offense has scored 30 points this year, and they've lost. Yeah. That's the most amazing thing. if i told you before the season cj proud is and the offense is going to score 30 in 12 games just saying okay texas are winning all 12 at all 100 they've lost two games they scored 30 in
1:59:46already yeah this is crazy it is it's a really good point too about you know just kind of reading your own press clippings all right booger i got one last question for you it's actually a statement that i want you to assess uh rowback uh it's the rowback question r-h-o-b-a-c-k.com promo code take 20 off your first purchase q-zips polos hoodies joggers shorts rowback.com promo code take here's the statement and you know it well. I made this statement on Monday, and I want to hear your take. I am, and this might look really stupid in like five days, I'm buying Bucs stock right now because I said that the Bucs defense is the most reliable unit in the NFC South. They have to beat the Falcons, but if they beat the Falcons on Sunday, they are 100% right back in this thing.
2:00:34How do you see the rest of the Bucs season? Are they kind of, hey, they got life in their back situation? Bucs have life. If I'm Ty Bowes, I stand in front of the team tomorrow because players get today off. Tomorrow's the first day. Here's what I say, guys. We've played the toughest part of our schedule, and we are one game out of first place in the win day. Here's what I say, guys. We've played the toughest part of our schedule and we are one game out of first place in the win column. And the team that's in first place in the win column is coming to our house. We're playing them on Sunday in the Falcons. We've already beaten Carolina. And so I think, yeah, I feel pretty good. I'm not going to
2:01:10say feel pretty good. I feel better. They need to keep stockpiling wins, though, because the team that I think ultimately is the most talented team in the division outside of Tampa is probably Atlanta, depending on whether Michael Penick shows up or not. You've beaten Carolina. The Saints can't run the football. Tyler Shuck's been up and down. So I think if you're the Bucs, man, like there's a glimmer of hope. I'm not saying you feel great, but I do think there's a glimmer of hope. So even as much as I want to say that your statement was stupid and dumb, I don't think it's 100% dumb. I think that it has some dumbassery in it, but it's not all the way. And listen, the dumbassery might be but it's not all the way and listen in a dumb
2:01:52assery might be the fact that i'm talking about todd bowles and i'm expecting him to to turn around but i just it's kind of a mess in the nfc south and i always look for value and it's like the bucks if they gotta win on sunday that's all if they lose on sunday it is over i'm not gonna continue talking about them but if they win on sunday it's kind of on especially if the panthers go to lambeau and lose like that it's then it's really on so yeah exactly which is very it is in the panthers and lambo that's that's thursday night right yeah it's thursday night so they'll know so i mean so by the time sunday afternoon panthers could have another loss bucks could have three wins and now you're looking at uh everybody's got three wins in the nC South. Yeah, which is crazy to say.
2:02:32It's a disaster division. All right, Boog, you're the best. By the way, you should get the book by tonight. That's how fast Amazon is. Wow. I love it. Listen, I can't wait. And as soon as I get it, I'm going to post about it. I definitely appreciate it. And, yeah, always enjoy coming on with you fellas, man. And listen, man, remember remember don't worry about how you look walking backwards just worry think about the benefits that you're gonna get i'm gonna do it i'm gonna have someone video me i'm gonna do it for you i'm gonna send you a video of me walking backwards yeah walking backwards and if you really want to do the advanced level walk backwards uphill whole nother level all right i'm gonna have those little weights on my ankles too i'm
2:03:10gonna do the whole thing. Yeah, exactly. No question. All right. Thanks, Boogie. You're the best, man. Boogie McFarlane is brought to you by State Farm. Every football player brings something different to the field. Some have speed. Some have power. Some have their own podcast. That being said, no two players are exactly alike, and the same is true off the field. One approach to insurance isn't going to be perfect fit for everyone. That's why State Farm takes time to get to know you. They can help personalize coverage for your life and your budget. With 19,000 local agents across the country, they have people ready, and they're waiting to help you get the coverage that's right for you. It's kind of like building a game plan.
2:03:45You don't start with a plan and hope the player fits into it. You start by knowing the player. When you need help, State Farm is there. Whether you connect with a local agent, use the State Farm mobile app, or visit statefarm.com because different lives call for different coverage. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there. Create a personal price plan, fit your life, and fit your budget with State Farm. And Booger McFarland was also brought to you by Cuervo. Make every moment a Cuervo moment. People think margaritas are just a summer drink, like once Labor Day hits, you pack up the salt rim, you put the blender in storage, you switch to pumpkin spice something. Absolutely not. Margaritas aren't just for summer.
2:04:24I drink tequila year-round. I'm a four-season guy, and that's why I keep it Cuervo. Football Sunday, keep it Cuervo. Tailgating in a parking lot when it's 38 degrees, big cats complaining about his toes. Margarita. Thanksgiving with the in-laws. Someone's uncle brings up politics before the turkey's even out. You better believe I'm showing up with a bottle of Cuervo. If it's a classic marg on the rocks or around with the boys when your team covers, Cuervo's been doing this for over 200 years. They know what they're doing. Summer's over. The margaritas aren't. Keep it Cuervo. Please drink responsibly with Cuervo. Okay, let's wrap up the show. Max, did you find out the take that you had? Nah.
2:04:59You didn't? Keep looking. I see you looking through brackets right now. I've got to find this tweet this guy had. I liked it, though. I was thinking about a third and a fifth round pick. Did Ed Dodds just get fleeced? No. Ed Dodds did the fleecing. Quentin Nelson was going to walk. Ed Dodds, no, no, no. Ed Dodds fleeces you. You can't get a better deal for Quentin. Quentin Nelson's an awesome player. Yeah, but he's old and on his last year of his contract. And I don't think they're ready. Like, they're in a transition, right? When are the Colts going to be good again? Ed Dodd fleeced. All right. Because my world is shaken right now. If Ed Dodd's. If somebody got the better of Ed Dodd's. No, no.
2:05:43You know what? I'm going to tweet it right now just to back him up. I'm going to say Ed Dodd masterclass getting not one, but two draft picks. That way you make it a little bit we say draft picks not the rounds he went for a fifth and then they threw in a third yeah two draft picks for quentin nelson you don't even have to say what i saw the seahawks started getting a compensatory third rounder so they basically that's just what smart teams do yeah they just fucking do that and it pisses me off all right hank pardon your take uh these are like nfl hot takes people sent in but oh my hot take is that there hasn't been a consistent great new head coach in the last five years what only one you could point to is the vikings head coach but they will never
2:06:23win a super bowl so does it even count all the best ones you're tried and true is like shane shanahan mcveigh reed so would ben So would Ben Johnson and Liam Cohen did last year just mean zero? What about the Seahawks? Great point, Mike McDonald. Great point. I feel like it's the other way. I think it's actually been like a hot streak of head coaches recently. And when did he's on the outside? Dan Campbell was what? Six years ago? Wait, how many years did he go back? Five. Nick Sirianni. When did he get hired? Is this his fifth year? Is this his sixth year? I think it's his sixth. It might be his sixth. But yeah, I... Okay, bad take. Who's that guy? Is that guy only watch? Did he just watch Jets and Dolphins like Sunday?
2:07:19Is that the only game he watched? What is he? It's a bad take. That was a high scoring game. Yeah, that's true. The reality is most coaches in the NFL are retreads. That's just how the league always works. And we don't know. like, two years from now, if the LeFleur guys work out. Yeah, the reality is that it goes for quarterbacks, too. Quarterbacks and coaches. Like, half of them are going to just suck. And then there's, like, another 25% will debate, and then there's 25% that are going to be good. Yeah. This one sounds like Shane wrote it. I think there's a legit chance the Chargers do not win a game this year. Obviously, everyone knows they're terrible, but there are only two weeks I could see on their schedule
2:07:59that are possible wins, and I still don't think they will. They'll pop up. Jets week 11, Dolphins week 16. Other games are Rams, Texans, Ravens, Patriots, Bucks, Raiders, Niners, Chiefs, Broncos. That guy's doing a lot of work throwing. They're throwing around some names into the good team pile that maybe shouldn't be in the good team pile. Right now, the Rams are not a good team. Right now, the Texans are not a good team. Bucs. Raiders. Raiders right now are not a good team. Who's more likely to make the playoff, Texans or Rams? Rams. Okay okay i probably agree with you yeah you said their schedules like get super easy right now rams yeah they do they have they they should they should rip off some wins i i i think the charge will win a game i think
2:08:51the charge will win one game it's think the Chargers will win one game. It's really hard to not win a single game. No shot they win four. They don't win four games. Let's see what Vegas says. I will say. They'll win four games. Just going to throw this out there. It's NFL. We made a group bet. We've talked about it before. It is going to go down as one of the worst bets of all time. One of the worst bets of all time. We made a group bet. The whole PMT. We've talked about it before. It is going to go down as one of the worst bets of all time. One of the worst bets of all time. We made a group bet the whole PMT. We all put our teams in betting overs. Let me just read it real quick to you. Bears over
2:09:20seven and a half wins. Looks that that's doing well. They have five wins right now. Chargers over eight and a half wins. We're like two weeks away from that being actually impossible. Bucks over six and a half wins. We're like two weeks away from that being actually impossible. Bucks over 6.5 wins. They have two. Commanders over 6.5 wins. They have one. Patriots over 8.5 wins. They have four. Eagles over 8.5 wins. They have two. Jets over 4.5. That is one of the worst bets of all time. We're going to lose that by like three teams. It's really bad. it's very bad what the jets are one of the best ones yeah the jets are jets are trending the best the jets no the the jets and bears yeah okay but i mean the jets are three wins away the bears are three wins away
2:10:04win totals right now vegas has uh chargers over three and a half on draft kings oh that side hit that under uh but it's wait under three and a half is actually plus money over three and a half on draft kings oh that side hit that under uh but it's wait under three and a half is actually plus money over three and a half is minus 200 under three and a half is plus 160 it is really hard though to lose every single game like they're gonna win a game i'm just really worried about yeah denver week 18 i'm just worried they're gonna sit all their starters and we get some squeaky win at the end that takes us out of the first pick. Yeah. That would really fucking suck. Yeah, what was it the one year?
2:10:38It was the Davis-Mills? Yeah. Mm-hmm. That would really fucking suck. All right, next one. My theory is the NFL front-loaded the Steel steelers schedule with easier games to ensure they wouldn't bench rogers midseason for younger qbs nine and eight plus first run exit is still inevitable so the theory uh i i don't totally disagree but the theory is really when you're talking about the nfc north and the af North, every team being above 500, it's like the we're not the same meme because if you look into the AFC North, they've gotten really fat off of the NFC South. Every team in the AFC North has just beaten the Bucs. They all beat the Bucs. I think that there's a... The Saints, like... I think the Steelers...
2:11:30The Browns, I don't expect them to stick around as a real team. I think they'll probably be around 500 at the end of the season. The Bengals, I do think. I think the Bengals are legit. Yeah, no, the Bengals are really good. But the Steelers have beaten the Cooper Rush Falcons, the Jalen Daniels Bucs, and the Saints. Three of their wins are NFC South. Yeah. It's just basically the AFC. Three of their wins are NFC South. Yeah. It's just basically the AFC North is significantly better than the NFC South, and that's what we're finding out. Okay, next. Last one. If Deshaun Watson takes the Browns to the playoffs, is it only right that we forgive him for his past? Hopeful Browns fans. That's a good point.
2:12:09That's a fair point. How many games do you think he'd have to win to get an extension? Super Bowl. Oh, extension? Oh, do you mean to be forgiven? Yeah. To get a pass? Super Bowl, he would definitely be forgiven in Cleveland. Yeah, I think. That's not in the gauche. He might already be forgiven in Cleveland. To get an extension, I feel like if he wins two playoff games, they would definitely give him one, right? Yeah. If he goes to the AFC Championship game, 100%. If he wins two playoff games, they would. If he wins one, but it's an ugly game, like 120 yards, one touchdown, one interception. They might just give him one anyway because this boy because the option is like if if deshaun watson if he hits the open market what is the market going to look
2:12:57like for deshaun watson yeah i it is it's i think todd munkin's a really good coach like i think he's done a really good job the problem is he doesn't own the team and you got to just think about the fact that like the haslam's might just be like hey we finally had a little success what do we have to do let's just lock up the shot yeah you know whatever choice they make it's probably it's probably gonna be the wrong one yeah i what who's what's their uh what's the the draft picks that the the browns have do they have anyone else's draft pick they have the jaguars they have have the Jaguars. Oh, it says something like great. Yeah, the Travis Hunter trip. Oh, no, they have the Rams, too. Or was it the Jaguars last year?
2:13:42They have the Rams from Miles Garrett, right? Yes. Okay. I might have missed Mo. I can't get out of this. Was it Jaguars last year? Somebody help. I don't know. I'm trying to pull up Tankathon. My brain's broken. The ads just keep popping up, so I don't know. I'm trying to pull up Tankathon. My brain's broken. The ads just keep popping up, so I don't know what to do. What do you want me to do? If only somebody else had a computer. I'm pulling it up right now. I'm still working on this bracket. I'm working on this bracket you told me to work on. They have the Rams pick and their pick. That's it. What's this bracket? Give it to us real quick. It's not quick okay i don't want this is this is confusing max why going on there's all these colors on here
2:14:22that's those are the different sides of the bracket so it's this is from this is from at detroit william it's okay it's a 14 playoff between the big 10 and the sec and the winner This is from at Detroit William. Okay. It's a four-team playoff between the Big Ten and the SEC, and the winner of that goes to the Final Four. Then there's a lot of other stuff at the bottom of this bracket. No, it's the four major conferences. I like this. I see what it's doing. It's basically saying the Big Ten and sec are automatically in the round of 16 the the smaller conferences have to start earlier and play play-ins like the mac has to play into the acc bracket the mountain west has to play into the acc bracket conference usa and sunbelt
2:15:06have to play in the acc bracket so you're essentially having the division winners and the SEC and the Big Ten both have four teams in no matter what. And it keeps conference championships relevant. And you'll always have a final four of one of the teams from each conference in the final four. So it would be impossible to have two SEC teams. Correct. I actually like this. This would be cool. Yeah. That's what I was thinking. The one thing that it kind of fucks is Notre Dame, but it also isn't the worst for it. Like, Notre Dame, you have to start in the first round, then play the Mountain West, and then you play the winner of the Mackey. So you're still, like, guaranteeing if you get that first wild card spot,
2:15:47you just have to beat the ACC champion. I know. And this is basically, basically like eventually it's going to just be the nfl where instead of the top four best big 10 teams we just split the big 10 back up into geographical and it's like you have divisions so what they've done is like you have a big 10 west which is washington oregon you know they just play the pac-12 out there they've also made like in basketball conference championship tournaments yeah essentially also you can the Big Ten and the SEC can get multiple teams into the Final Four if they make it out if they went out from the wild cards oh there's wild cards there's three wild cards got it so that play in the the Big 12 and the ACC got it yeah
2:16:31right yeah I don't hate this. It would be fun. That would be fun. Okay, good show, boys. Numbers. Four. Three. Twenty-three. Eleven. 23. 11. 37. 69. 69 for Colton. Nine. Colton, nice. Colton, bid well out. Said you're doing a great job, Colton. Bid well out. Thank you, Big Cat. Fuck that guy. Although, I kind of want to start locking. I kind of want to put in a lock on the potty armor fridge. Just makes a little extra money. How much money was he losing to Gatorade? 86. Anyone? 86?
2:18:0937? 37. Yes! Shane! Shane! Come on, let's go! Shane! Oh, man. Bolt's up. 37 37 37 yes oh man bolts up how many times you've gotten this uh i don't know i think this fifth or sixth time whoa on this machine uh no it's probably a fourth time on this machine oh my god it means you've never gotten this on this machine uh i have one no you haven't you haven't yeah no you haven't i don't want to say this but i've been guessing for for the last few weeks and memes took for it before me you're good luck chuck me thanks memes so you basically won it for shane so it's another one that you could say that you it, but you didn't. Cool. You lead the league in getting it, but not. Yeah, I'm like the Chargers.
2:18:56Yes, sir. Well, no, they never even. Yeah, no, they don't win either. No, but you forget they're going to get Jeremiah Smith. Oh, yeah, the wide receiver fix everything. So you admit that you've never won it? No, I haven't. No, you just said you're like the Chargers. You know the Chargers haven't won it. I have one. Okay. This is Shane's third on this machine. Eight overall, which is tied with PFT. Beast, dude. After. Beast. With much fewer guesses. Who's got? What's Pug at? Hank and I have nine wins. Dynasty Pug. Hank, you have nine wins? Duh. Wait, do they? It says nine. I'll run this machine. Yeah, what did Pug have? Pug's not on here anymore. I think Pug had like 20. So either way, the end of the story memes didn't get it, and Shane did.
2:19:46Happy birthday to Stetson Bennett. Happy birthday to Julia Roberts. Happy birthday to Jack Rabbit Jenkins.. Happy birthday to Julia Roberts. Happy birthday to Jack Rabbit Jenkins. Happy birthday, Andy Dalton. Happy birthday to Tank Dell. Happy birthday to R.A. Dickey. Happy birthday to Bob Ross. And happy birthday to Randy Jackson.
