Answered from #2574 - Francis Foster & Konstantin Kisin · The Joe Rogan Experience · 2026-10-31
Konstantin Kisin told Joe Rogan that Soviet archaeologists opened Tamerlane's tomb in Samarkand despite locals warning that its inscription promised a conqueror greater than him to whoever disturbed it. The next day, 22 June 1941, Germany launched Operation Barbarossa. He said the remains were later given a proper Islamic burial, and that this came at the pivotal moment of the Battle of Stalingrad, after which the Soviet Union pushed forward. Kisin, whose father grew up in Uzbekistan, described the country as a kind of Muslim Rome.
