Question

Do more Europeans die from heat than Americans from guns, as discussed on Joe Rogan #2574?

Answered from #2574 - Francis Foster & Konstantin Kisin · The Joe Rogan Experience · 2026-10-31

On Joe Rogan #2574 a guest guessed that summer heat kills more Europeans than guns kill Americans, and producer Jamie's search backed it up. One estimate put European heat-related deaths at 61,672 in a single summer, against more than 48,000 US firearm deaths that year, a CDC figure that includes suicides. Rogan then asked about cold, and the search returned about 364,000 cold deaths a year across 30 European countries, a 2024 study's average for 1991 to 2020. The guests blamed high energy prices for pensioners unable to heat their homes.
