What happened in Luis J. Gomez's fake gun story on Joe Rogan?

Luis J. Gomez told Joe Rogan that he nearly hit a Citi Bike rider while pulling out of a parking space in New York's East Village. The rider was unhurt and left, but a bystander called the police, and a person shouting from an upstairs window flashed what looked like a gun. Police closed the block and waited about 45 minutes before going in, then found the weapon was a black dildo with a gun handle.

• Gomez said around 20 officers, fire trucks and an ambulance gathered on the block.
• Gomez admitted he is a bad driver and that conflict tends to snowball around him.
• Rogan used the story to explain road rage: drivers start at a heightened state, so small slights feel like war.
