Question

What does Simon Kindström mean by delegation is not abdication for engineering leads?

Answered from New Grad (IC3) to Staff (IC6) at Meta in 3 Years | Simon Kindström · Ryan Peterman · 2026-10-23

Simon Kindström said his manager taught him that you can delegate any work you like but remain responsible for the outcome. Earlier he assumed people would get delegated work done and hoped they would. As he grew toward IC6 he set up processes such as weekly sprint meetings to check whether work was progressing, because at that level he could no longer do everything himself or even review all the code. Ryan Peterman summed it up as verifying through people without micromanaging.
