Question

Why does Kim Leadbeater want political education in schools?

Answered from Kim Leadbeater, MP: My Sister's Murder and Why I Never Wanted To Go Into Politics · The Rest Is Politics · 2026-10-22

Kim Leadbeater says that perhaps half or more of an MP's inbox concerns things MPs do not handle, because constituents mistake them for lawyers, police officers or councillors. Nobody ever explained to the public who does what, she argues, so frustrated people shout at whoever they can reach, feeding hostility in politics. Better political education is her remedy, alongside civility work by the Jo Cox Foundation.
