Answered from JRE MMA Show #187 with Robert Whittaker · The Joe Rogan Experience · 2026-10-22
Joe Rogan argued that technique should be drilled while fresh and hard conditioning done afterwards, because fatigue makes movements sloppy and erodes confidence. Robert Whittaker agreed that a tired mind wanders and said he cannot do skill work that way. He believes the hardest sessions should happen inside the sport itself, so to get fitter at wrestling you have to wrestle to fatigue. Late in his career, Whittaker says he mainly reviews and revises his skills with pad work, light sparring and gi rounds.
