Shane Bishop explained that after Brandon Boudreaux won temporary sole custody, Melanie asked for reconsideration and a custody evaluator recommended a 50-50 split. Boudreaux first wanted to fight it, but he and his wife Jenny were told by people who had been through it that the judge would likely follow the recommendation, so he set his anger aside for the children. Brittany Morris added that the deal was reached by both parties, their lawyers, a mediator and a judge.
