Question

Who was Robert Garrow and how was he caught after the 1973 Adirondacks manhunt?

Answered from The Buried Bodies Case · Radiolab · 2026-10-30

Robert Garrow, 37, of Syracuse, was an ex-convict who had served seven years for rape. On July 29, 1973 he held four young campers at gunpoint off Route 30 in the Adirondacks and fatally stabbed 18-year-old Philip Domblewski. The search grew to about 400 men, and on day 12, August 9, conservation officer Hillary LeBlanc shot him in the back, arm and foot. He was taken alive to a hospital in Plattsburgh.
