Question

What was the Catch Me Killer hoax in the Tara Grinstead case?

Answered from The Orchard · Dateline NBC · 2026-11-03

In 2009 a disguised man calling himself the Catch Me Killer posted YouTube videos claiming he had killed 16 women, including Tara Grinstead. GBI agents traced the internet address to Andrew Haley, a 26-year-old roofer from Gainesville, Georgia, who had made the videos from his wife's hospital room. Investigators judged it a hoax, and Haley was convicted of tampering with evidence and making false statements.
