Question

How does Dimitri say engineers can stay more useful than AI to their managers?

Answered from What Senior Engineers Are Actually Doing About AI · A Life Engineered · 2026-10-19

Dimitri says the value an engineer brings, separate from an LLM, is a mental model of the project with known knobs and control surfaces, such as knowing which three components cause latency. A director could simply tell an AI to improve P95 latency, so the engineer should understand the architecture well enough to direct the AI better than the director could. He tells his mentees to make sure people who delegate never ask why they would not just delegate to the AI.
