Question

Can eating fruit peels and vegetable stalks boost fibre, according to the BBC's Michelle Roberts?

Answered from Residents leave devastated Russian-occupied Oleshky · Global News Podcast · 2026-10-30

BBC health reporter Michelle Roberts said British food scientists found that peels, stalks, seeds and rind often contain more fibre than the parts people usually eat. Eating a whole kiwi, skin included, gives about 50% more fibre than the flesh alone. Broccoli stalks can go into soups or stir fries and pineapple core into smoothies. Fibre is linked to lower risk of bowel cancer and heart disease.
