Jesus de Miguel, 30, was struck by the knee of FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono deep in stoppage time of a Spanish second division match in Tenerife. He was treated on the pitch for five minutes, suffered a cardiac arrest in the ambulance and was resuscitated, but died at 8am the next day. The BBC's sports correspondent said football safety rules focus on concussion, while on-pitch deaths mostly come from cardiac arrest or collision trauma.
